Houston area mechanic - v8 timing belt replacement

Hi all. I'm coming up on 180K miles and would like to avoid the stealership for the timing belt / water pump replacement. Does anyone know of a good mechanic in the Houston area who could do it?

Can't give you prices as I live in Austin but, most people from the Houston area use Duggy's Garage. I believe he's even on Tacomaworld. Might cost a bit more but, the dealer usually doesn't do more than just the timing belt/water pump. The thermostat was a different bid.

I went to a Land Cruiser specialist place where they changed TB, all tensioners, WP/thermostat, fuel filter, missing something else. They used the AISIN kit you can buy on amazon (you can provide to save money) but, they were about $300 more than the dealer which, again only did the TB/WP

I appreciate the reply. The quote did come back a little high. The first one was really high because they quoted the timing belt, water pump and serpentine belt as 3 different jobs, basically triple counting the labor. They did revise it down a bit, but the part quotes still look high. I'll see if they'll let me source them myself to save some $. Thanks for the suggestion.

When I was down in that area I found these guys through a Tundra Forum that had some good reviews. The owner was a Master Toyota Tech.

Tomball's Choice For Auto Repair

It was just over $1000 for the timing belt, water pump and new anti-freeze. At the time I believe the dealers were ~$1200-1400.

Good luck.
