Pardon my ignorance - the 3 small rectangle amber lights in some grills...
What is this and what is the point? I see this mainly on Fords but also some 4runners have these lights. Is this some new type of safety lighting or just 2 car makers copying each other?
Is there a retro kit available? I see there are some similar looking ones at Diode Dynamics but aside from being a 'mini led lightbar' i'm curious as to the function. https://dxv0kh7euhy9z.cloudfront.net...raight_ss6.jpg |

few threads on here about it. Raptor Lights 2020 4Runner |
As Spartacus said they came from the Ford Raptor. If you want to look them up they are called Raptor Lights. You can buy a kit for just about any truck. For me they are more a fashion accessory.

ok goodness. i thought these were an option on certain 4runners since i see so many on the road. i guess everyone is doing this mod lol.

Runner ricer lights.

The thing you actually want to put in that spot is a 20" light bar.

Those lights were required on the Raptor due to the width of the body. Don't know the exact federal statutes but vehicles of a certain width are required to have amber lights of a certain height brightness blah blah blah.
It's why you see the amber lights on the roofs of dually pickup trucks and big rigs. The Raptor, (due to being stretched in width to accommodate the long travel suspension and 35's), wound up being over the limit and needed the marker lighting to be road legal. Many people thought this was just a style cue and, (liking the look), started adding the amber marker lights on other vehicles. |

OP, on the 4Runner they are just owners putting on lights for looks. 4Runners do not come with them. |

I don't know why people are calling those Raptor lights? Those are clearly light bars.
Raptor lights are 3-4 Orange LED's in your front grill. |

There are 10,000 different LED bars. Would you mind to post what you bought?

Must be fun to use when you get that tool coming at you with their brights on and you flash them but they don't turn them off. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I used a SDHQ mounting kit which is cheap, no drill, and made it really easy. Super easy install, very bright, and quality gear. Quote:
It also is in line with the lights which makes aiming easy. Quote:
