Just paired keyfob to 4runner, now it doesnt work!
Hey guys, I Just got some new remotes for my 2000 4runner SR5. I paired a new remote and it accepted it. I was able to lock and unlock my doors once i got out of the car but after about 5 seconds they didnt work anymore.
Maybe the alarm system has a bad connection? I also never heard a chirp or beep but the buzzer is hooked up on the passenger side Thanks |

No progress yet but i suspect the fuse block under the hood may be the issue.
I disassembled the body ECU and reflowed the solder joints at the relays for the doors, put non conductive grease on quite a few things while i was in there. My multimeter just stopped working so i had to call it till another one shows up. Im going to clean the ground for "G202" I believe under the dash its supposed to be for the alarm. Then check resistances at powers & grounds... and go from there. Likely ill be grabbing an under hood fuse block online and disassemble/fix it up I still cant find the actual alarm box. I opened up the back door, re-greased the window gears while i was in there... Took a look under the front seats. It must be under the dash but i dont see anything obvious. |
So apparently my multimeter got wet. I dried it out and its ok now.
So the body ecu seems to be the culprit. Heres what i did.. Hit the locks a bunch of times till it got slow Tested voltages at both sides of the MBX5 fuse or whatever its called under the hood Voltages were still good. Hit the locks a bunch more.. Checked voltages at the connector for the driver window control and ive only got 11.38 volts at the red and red/white wires. Checked supply voltage at the body ECU... Battery voltage... Looks like the relay in the body ecu is the culprit since i had it all apart a few days ago and saw no corrosion. Im going to try to find the relays and change them out in the body ECU and go from there. Any help is appreciated! |
