Cargo Hatch Lock Actuator Repair

Hey Dudes, In this video, we show you how to perform a very affordable repair of the rear hatch lock actuator on your 3rd Gen.

As these lock actuator motors age, they can't handle heat. You will most likely notice one day when the sun is shining on the rear hatch, your door lock will either fail to unlock or lock. That is a sign it's time to replace the RC motor inside the actuator. The motors are very affordable, currently around $9/each. Since this is the same motor for the driver and passenger doors, you might want to buy more than one saving on the per unit price so you'll have them on hand if any of your other door lock motors start to get tired.

I filmed this video with @JZiggy (aka Jordan) and @fourfive (aka Brian) at Jordan's place in Atlanta, Georgia. It was a good day because right after shooting the video, we had a Timmy the Toolman party. It wasn't a big showing, but the guys that did show were all good dudes. It was a good time!

Thanks @mtbtim & @JZiggy for helping me out with this repair. I bought the parts with plans to get this job done 2 years ago. Part of me was hoping you'd eventually have a video for this so it was real cool to work with you on this project. Atlanta's the shit, come back to visit anytime. Until next time my friend.

Those little motors seem to be a leak spot in all toyota lock actuators. The sienna vans rear power doors are notorious for failing. Glad to see a 3rd gen video on our lock actuators. :)

Maybe one of these years, if the Atlanta picnics continues. I drive down and bring a few forum members with me.

I'll visit Jordan again and hopefully we can have another party in Atlanta.

We did this video for the doors a while back.
