Dumb question about 2012 Limited

I have a 2012 limited and I like the TRD pro wheels. I have looked at multiple pictures of others owners ride with this setup and realize the limited sits lower in the front and the bumpers are lower front and back than the newer 5th gen (2014+) and the side skirts and lower. I get all that.

What I'm trying to figure out is.... How come the 2010-2013 limited when you put the TRD Pro wheels on, they look like they are recessed more inside the fender well than other models. I realize they are 7" wide, but on the newer models, they look a little more flush. I know I can get the FN wheels or add spacers. Trying to look up track width on models and they appear to be the same.

Is it just the earlier version (2010-2013) have wider fenders in the front? But I have noticed the rears also appear to look like they don't stick out as far.

Thanks for any input.

The front and rear bumpers around the wheel well are more vertical, whereas the facelift bumpers curve inward giving the appearance of a more aggressive offset.
