4th gen loses power while driving

Ive had to make some repairs to my 4runner over last month, trucks been on jackstands to pull out dual cases etc. While refilling transmission and jumping out ECU to do so. I noticed several times it lost all power. I concluded it was dead battery from sitting, charged it up all good. trucks back together, I test drib=ve it and while pulling into supermarket parking it lost power Completely. The alarm was freaking out si I pulled fuse on alarm. and she came back to life. But driving home was not awesome waiting for it to die again. Any ideas? Suddenly after sitting and 60K miles it needs an Alternator?

Easy to test the alternator: while the engine is running, the battery voltage should be 14 to 14.5 volts. Most auto parts stores will test the battery for free; they can test for bad cells, capacity, and load.

When you pulled into the parking lot and it lost power, was there something specific that caused it? For example, turning left(or right), or went over a speed bump? I had the most irritating problem with an old Sentra, replaced the alternator, the battery (which probably all needed to be done anyway), and it turned out that a positive wire running under the battery tray had worn through and was grounding out on the body of the car.
