Removing bad v8 2UZFE vvti and have a few questions
Bought an 08 limited with a known bad engine. Presently have most of wiring connections, main harness to ecu, rad, fan clutch off. Ready to split transmission from motor. Looking for a sticky or procedure on engine removal. Thanks

07 Engine Swap into an 03 And here is a semi-complete list of steps I could think of off the top of my head, but don't take it as 100%: Drain and remove radiator Disassemble all air intake hoses + fuel lines Remove fan and fan shroud Remove serpentine belt Unbolt starter + bell housing Unbolt power steering pump Unbolt ac compressor + lines Remove starter Unbolt flywheel Unbolt + remove exhaust manifolds Disconnect all plugs and lines (like coolant lines and transmission line brackets) |
Yes, I watched his video and definitely helpful. Obvious to me these engines don’t go down too often.
Thanks for your response. |
Thanks P_nlsn. I’ll take a look at your v6 swap. Shouldn’t be that many differences.

I bought them from Snap-On but you can improvise... 1/2 on the ratchet end and 3/8 on the socket end, extensions in 6" 12" 24" and 36" versions. also impact wobbler sockets in 10, 12, 14, 17, and 19mm. A long handle 1/2 ratchet to break free the bell housing and torque converter bolts is way more effective than an impact wrench. |
