2005 4Runner???

Anyone have any details on the changes for the 2005 4Runner? I was putting in an order for a 2004 in March, but the order got rejected. Dealer advised me that any order in April might also get rejected due to the time lines for them to start production on the 05 models. So I am impatiently waiting...

I have heard rumors that the 05 would have the 5 speed AT from the V8 and a couple of other changes (not specified) from the 04...

Any one heard similar rumors?

i hear '05 4runners will share a similar engine to the Scion xB for the more affordable bunch who want the look of a 4R but don't need the towing power or hill climbing power or the acceleration or the low mileage or the speed etc... i think something like that should start at at LEAST $21,000. and thats WITH the sporty hood scoop!

Someone on this board mentioned that the new runner will have 285 ponies with a newly improved engine.

If they are going to put a 4 banger in it will it go 0-60 in less than 5 minutes?

Its 4500 pounds with 30 inch wheels. Sounds a little far fetched

The xB has a 1.5 liter 108hp 4 cyl engine :rotflmao:

I was talking to a Lexus salesman and he told me that for the 2005 GX470, there will be a new 270 hp engine. He was not sure of it but that could be a change for the 2005 V8 4Runner. :dunno:

If the "salesman" said that, take it with a grain of salt...

05 4Runner & Lexus

I did hear the same thing, but they were going to release that engine only to Lexus for the first year or two (probably see this in the 4runner line around 2006). They are revamping the injection system which is supposed to push the HP up to 280+ for the V8. Not sure how much the torque output would change.
