I need advice before I install lift
 

I ordered a 1.5 lift kit. (DAYSTAR ) The reason I went with that insted of a 2 .5 is I dont off road. , and I have brand new Mich 265/70/16 on her that the first owner installed. If I had gone with a 2.5 , I feel it would have looked funny. I figured 1 in woud be too small of a lift so I split the differance. I was wondering if you thought this was a good decission. I also ordered 1.25 wheel spacers. with 87000 mile , I figure I should go ahead while Im at it and install new shocks. Being that I wont be off road , what do you think the best shock is for the best ride. Being that Im putting on a lift , will stock shocks fit . I thought about going with BILSTEIN , But Im wondering if that would be over kill. I want to keep a soft ride if possible. If later I went with a differant size street tire , what would be about the biggest I could go with using a 1.5 lift. One last questing. I noticed that some have a problem with the back sag. Is there a way to fix that befor it starts ? I know I ask alot of questions, But at leaste I know you Guys and Gals know your stuff. Thanks you for taking the time to read this and respond. I understand you don't offroad but when you're paying for daystars and replacing the shocks it makes no sense to me why people just don't swap the coils in the first place. if i were you i would have gone with something like tundra 2x4 coils with ome n91sc up front, and 906s with n86c shocks in the rear. that would give you an even 1.5 in front and back. Also, the 1.25" spacers are overkill unless you're going for looks, in my opinion it may turn out a little low riderish. to answer your question, stock shocks will be fine you don't absolutely have to change them. 1.5" doesn't merit you a larger tire size, a 265/75 would be the max both stock (in most cases) and after your lift. And yes there is a way to fix the sag before it starts, buy aftermarket coils and skip the spacers!!! Sorry for the bluntness, but you wanted cold hard facts i think

Thanks Roo , Thats what I want..the hard cold facts. Really, all I want is for looks. I read that the Dayster wouldnt give me a bad ride. Will the springs that you are refering to? Its folks like yourself I look up too. Thats why I ask you questions. Whats your thoughts on a Daystear 2.5 Lift kit ? Thanks again

As I said before, and lots agree to this, if you're going to do it at all, do it right the frist time. the spacers will put a good bit of stress on your stock coils, eventually you will have to replace them. It would be wiser to just go ahead and replace the whole shock/coil assembly...plus you can have more street cred for those admiring your ride (explaining a new aftermarket suspension setup sounds a hell of a lot better than 'i've got plastic lift blocks in my coil assembly') ome rears have been known to sag, but i still feel its a better option than spacing your rear. it's up to you, if you need pricing/discount on these items get in touch with me at [email protected] and i can get you set up. good luck

I have the 2.5" daystar, and a 1.5" spidertrax...

the spidertrax are gonna looks GREAT if you have the plastic moulding around the doors, connected to your running boards OR mudguards? if not, they look a little funny...theyre are a BREEZE to install, but after you have them on, check them a week later, and then a few weeks after that, and then maybe once every 3-6 months...spidertrax are made well, so you shouldnt have a problem, but i would check them...

I got the rear spacer instead of coils, because the lift coils will be stiffer and more tight...mine actually feels a LOT softer in the rear end when I hit dips, etc. than with the stock coils

Since its only a SPACER lift, stock shocks will fit JUST FINE...also, I have 265/70/R16 on my 2.5" daystar and its a little small looking but not too bad

RooRRunner is COMPLETELY correct on all points, but im too broke to pay for a suspension lift, so I will do that in a year or so...this is just for looks anyway...

4rnr4me... Like I said before , yours does really look great. from what ive read , 2001's sat 2 in' lower than yours. Thats why I went with 1.5. as for the wheel spacer, I agree with you , it should be checked after a few miles. You did use lock-tite on the threads right ? Roo has me rethinking about my decission with spacers. I just dont wont back sagging later. My worry with going with differant springs is will it give me a rougher ride. My baby ( named her TINK ...being that Im all way tinkering on her ) will be 99.9 HWY miles.

I got my spacers used (installed but never drove on), so the rear ones had loctite on them already, and I didnt put any of the front ones...still havent had ANY loosening issues, I checked with my torque wrench and they were still PERFECT, but later on ima use some blue loctite on there :D

mine sits HIGHER, eh? I thought so, judging by some pics ive seen of stock runners...yea sagging would suck...

4rnr , I dont live to far from you. Maybe someday soon Ill road trip up that way ,and we can hang out and swap runner stories. You sound like a cool dude. also , theres a guy living about 60 miles from me on here. Thats what I was hoping for , a chance to make new friends and just hang out and check out each othere runners. Who Knows, maybe make it into a yearly thing for a bunch of us from the south to get together

Mid South 4Runners Road trip?
 

Anyone have a desire to start getting some plans for a weekend road trip for the future ? It would be for 3rd Gen only ..of course , anyone woiuld be welcome. We could plan car shows. have a band, BBQ, maybe a yota tech to disscuss isues ect. Open for Ideas. If there enough of us , we could get a good rate at a days in or someplace like it. It would be geared towards Familys AKA Wife and future T4R members (children)

I'm actually in Los Angeles, not LA the state, lol...

but yea I wouldnt mind doing something like that if we did it a little closer to me :D

maybe us Californians could do a similar thing, I'm always up for meeting new people
