Liner that covers the back seat too???

I have an '06 Sport V8 4WD. I know there are loads of threads on cargo liners on the forum. Most likely I will get a husky cargo liner - it looks great with perfect fit for the cargo area. But are there any liners on the market that will cover the entire area when the back seats are folded down?

I have two working dogs. They do not ride in the truck loose - they ride in their crates. Unfortunately, the wheel wells take up space inside the vehicle and I cannot put two 36" crates side by side in the cargo area. So one has to sit in front of the other on the back seat (folded down). Even though the dogs do not roam in the back, they still step on the carpet a bit when they jump in and out of their crates. Not to mention my shepherd will always manage to leave some black hair in any vehicle, even if he only stays in the crate (my malinois puppy has much shorter hair and is not bad though). My back seats are not always folded down - they're only down when I take both dogs to training sessions. I could still get a husky cargo liner for daily use and put a longer piece of rubber mat on top of it when i need to. I suppose I could get some piece of huge rubber mat and just cut it myself for an exact fit all the way to the back of the front seats.

Any suggestions on "more than full" coverage on the cargo area (including the back seats)??

Thanks

As you can see, I currently use a tarp/mat type of thingy I got from Home Depot - the back of it is thin rubber. The length is okay - it reaches to the back of the front seats. But width wise - it fits between the wheel wells. So it is not wide enough so I can cut it out for an exact fit to cover most if not every inch of the back area.

It looks cool. I remember reading a thread on this product. What material is it though? it looks like it's cloth or similar material? doesn't look like the easiest to clean?

SportRunner 03-10-2008 02:22 AM

I think its nylon or something.....should be easy to keep clean cause its made for pets....

Thanks, icantsee. It was interesting to see different setups people had. Did Falls ever post a picture somewhere of his custom-cut rubber mat for full coverage?

I sure had to click on a lot of links to download and open the pictures :p

I also have 2 large dogs, weimaraners, and I went to pet smart and just bought a gate for the vehicle. This way my dogs have the back area to themselves and my unborne child can have the back seat to himself. I think we paid 75 bucks for the gate, I will post a pic of it tomorrow for you.

Evan, thanks for the input. I have a gate/guard rail that I used in my 05 Frontier before. I only had my shepherd and a pet dog back then. They could ride together in the back of the cab. I folded the back seats up, had the floor leveled off, matted, and completely set up for him. When I went to club training sessions, he rode in the back of the cab fine. Depending on whether it was summer, I either left him in the vehicle when it's cool enough with the windows down (each training session last several hours long) or lugged his crate around in the bed and set him up in it in the shade when it was hot. But now I have a malinois as well and I'm not letting two working dogs ride in the vehicle together loose - that's one of the primary reasons why I got the Runner in the first place - so I'd be able to put two crates IN the vehicle and haul two dogs that way. It works perfectly now. I just want to get the entire area matted or linered for ease to clean. Post some pictures of your dogs - I'd love to see them

Re: the $225 cargoliner. I saw them at Petsmart last time I was in.

OdinWiski 03-11-2008 11:59 PM

The pet liner looks cool, but I don't really want to wrap everything up in the back. After toying with getting a husky, I decided to get this instead - something different.

I'll use this for normal everyday use with the seats up. And I'll custom cut an additional rubber mat for an exact fit to cover the back seats area when I haul two crates around and have the seats down.

Here are a couple of pics of my kids, The large one is a certified tracking dog and the little one is a certified cuddler. The first picture was after we went on a 6 mile run. He was NOT happy after that run. He thought it was a normal 3 mile run.

Evan:

Doggie porn!! LOL jk I love the first pic! The one in which the two of them squuuuuuuched together on the couch is just too adorable! They're both gorgeous!! What type of tracking do you work your boy in - FSTR, S&R, police tracking, etc.?

Thanks very much for sharing the pics.

greyghost4x4 03-12-2008 01:05 AM

I use him for S&R here in the ozarks. Sometimes kids get lost and when they ask for volunteers me and my boy go help. They are actually brother and sister, just 2 years difference.
