no, not the girl ...the 2nd gen 4runner, that was the first 4runner I ever drove and I drove it on my 20th birthday, that was when the "love affair" started!

(edit:actually remembered the first time I drove a 4runner it was my best friends older brothers, and we took it out at like 2am and I raced my friend while he drove his dads Nissan 240SX" this woulda been a 96 runner, forest green, back in 1996 or 97, and the 4runner was neck and neck with the 240SX)

Some stupid truck rear ended me on my way back from Vacation in California, Totalled my Grand Am,
I went after a 4runner, and got the 4runner I wanted for the 2 years since my 20th b-day!!

Decided that since I liked 4wheeling so much, and if I wanted to hang with the guys from RM4x4.org that I would at least need a CB to start... heres my build on that one. I decided since I would have everything apart, I would move my amp for my sub from the back to underneath my seat.

As everyone who has toyed with a few inches of lift has done, I got antsy

of course, it only took me about 3 weeks of having my 2.5 inch Skyjacker lift to realize I wanted more lift and also wanted to make sure it would support the bumpers and all the other mods I wanted to do in the future

so I found out about the LC coil mod. I went with the 7 wrap LC coils which should give about 3.5 inches of lift to a 4runner.

I ordered mine from a good friend at ROCKI TOP AUTO if you want some, give Katy a shout.

there are also 8 wrap- 4.5 inch lift and 9 wrap- 5.5 inch lift LC coils.

Got those in.
Before driver side rear with 100k mile coils and 2.5 inch skyjacker spacers
<a href="http://www.mediafire.com/imageview.php?quickkey=wkdk1m55ynt&thumb=4"><img src="http://www.mediafire.com/imgbnc.php/758d81055630d3f6be681ae32eb0c3e44g.jpg" border="0"></a>

after with 7 wrap LC coils
<a href="http://www.mediafire.com/imageview.php?quickkey=nmmmhrlk5m0&thumb=4"><img src="http://www.mediafire.com/imgbnc.php/10db3af26c9207702dd75f43ba0513f54g.jpg" border="0"></a>

on a downhill slope after putting in the LC coils

<a href="http://www.mediafire.com/imageview.php?quickkey=tyyv1cjzzwy&thumb=4"><img src="http://www.mediafire.com/imgbnc.php/49447a1380fc551a72d03591fbbf1e504g.jpg" border="0"></a>

Duhockey 01-11-2010 05:42 AM

The night that I put the LC coils in, took her for a drive and in a parking lot, tried out some "night" camera shots that didnt turn out so hot!

this one looks pretty cool to me though

<a href="http://www.mediafire.com/imageview.php?quickkey=3ntwdrimzjw&thumb=4"><img src="http://www.mediafire.com/imgbnc.php/8565eec87e0c0f50be95096d9ceb410e4g.jpg" border="0"></a>

The rake is killer right after you do anything with the suspension. DONT WORRY, it will settle.

Here, in the parking Garage at work

The latest mod was the "Yakima" roof rack and Spare tire Carrier

<a href="http://www.mediafire.com/imageview.php?quickkey=iwtjtnyyzuz&thumb=4"><img src="http://www.mediafire.com/imgbnc.php/9bff68b0a29986fc94febbfe38cea43f4g.jpg" border="0"></a>

Got a great deal on the rack and just last week got the Spare Tire carrier!
Haven't put the spare tire up yet, good thing, Im gonna have to pull the Roof rack to install my Toytec adjustable coilovers on Saturday

<a href="http://www.mediafire.com/imageview.php?quickkey=myuzkmkkgio&thumb=4"><img src="http://www.mediafire.com/imgbnc.php/21a894f831b0b051db674e52fb9eeacc4g.jpg" border="0"></a>

plenty to come!

Ron Helmuth 01-11-2010 05:49 PM

good story

Now I know what to look for on Saturday.

I'll have plenty of questions regarding the L/C coils once I see those in person.

Duhockey 01-17-2010 11:44 PM

So, Saturday got my Toytec coilovers put in,

Sunday did the alignment and Diff drop.

Man you really have those adjustable coilovers maxxed out, looks great. Those front CV's look a little steep from that angle though

LOL, the funny thing is, I have them at 2.5 inches of thread, which is according to toytec, 3 inches, its supposed to go to 3.5 without trouble, but Im pretty sure my cvs are still leaking after the 1" diff drop... gonna try and take care of that tomorrow am before work...

ill prob also drop it about 1/2 inch to get it to an even 40" on each side, Im a little taller in the front than in the back

It came with the snowboard rack back when I got it in 2002, it really helped alot. most guys bindings were too big to go on the short side facing down, I generally put my wifes board there, but it helped the other side...
