4runner pros vs other suv's
 

which are the main advantages from the 4runner vs exem.. xterra, pathfinder, explorer, sonora, ram, etc does anybody knows any weaknesses in the 4 runner cause its not easy to find,, btw I use to have a camry the only weak thing was the door handles always broked but nothing more. now I bought a 4runner and want to know how it is in that aspect,, tnx give opinions please, excuse my bad :lookout::lookout:english

your going to get a whole bunch of bias here, so if you want to ask a 4runner specific question you may get better answers,


what year, trim level? limited SR5, ect ect ect?

Although they have a lot of toyotas on that website previously posted, i dont know how you can really trust them when they say "The Car Connection put together this list of recommended used cars, vehicles that tend to rise to the top after a few years of service....Best Used Mid-Size SUV (Traditional): Ford Exploder"

But yeah you made a good move with choosing a 4runner of any milage, in the best body style.

yeah I THINK THE same I doesnt know why car connection put ford explorer as good :s because for me its one of the worse suv's ugly and weak... but at least Im talking that cause friends of mine doesnt believe my advises ''dont buy the explorer '' now they are suffering and want to sell the explorer at a very low price.

maybe im in love cause my last 6 cars was toyotas and never in repairs or never get fixed, well now my 4runner is sr5 2wd(i dont need 4x4) for the city, i put the limited fender flares and change a lot all the shape, looks much better. ijust wish it had sunroof but dont. mileage is 149,000 miles, I use to have a camry 97 with 270.000 that has a fast and silent engine , so maybe they last until 900,000 miles

IMO...

The Xterra adopts many ancient design principles and forces them to work with a few modern ones... poorly thought out. They are also just not as stout as the 4Runners.

The older pathy's are pretty good little trucks, but lack the longevity of the 4Runners.

I have always been fond of the older exploders, but there are just issues that you have to expect to come up with them. They are heavy, get crappy mpgs, and have power steering and alternator issues (pretty much any Ford). That being said, they have a strong drivetrain and are easy and cheap to repair. Good trucks, but not as good all around as the 4Runner.

Sonora???

The Ram, you would have to specify the year and model, but I generally try to stay away from Dodge trucks that do not have Cummins engines.

3rd gen 4Runners... rear axle seals go out ever 100k or so, power steering every 200k or so. They are overengineered, stout, and capable trucks. Both the 2.7L and the 3.4L are legendary Toyota engines. I have been able to perform all the maintainance on my 4Runner, and have been pleased with the ease of doing so... they are designed to be serviced easily in most respects. The way I see it, you can't go too wrong getting into one. They never complain when asked to work.
