How old are you?

I was just wondering the age distribution on the forum so I thought I would post a poll.

I'm 26.

krosno3 12-21-2004 08:00 PM

loudog2 12-21-2004 08:25 PM

Mark86 12-21-2004 11:49 PM

Well, I am only 18 years old. I feel like the baby of the board!!

itsmemaaaark 12-22-2004 12:16 AM

Sweet Sixteen

CuzzinOlaf 12-22-2004 08:58 AM

Ghost Rider 12-22-2004 10:57 AM

Nice to see all you young'ns...

You all keep working, I need the Social Security checks to be there in a couple of years!! :D

sharp4runr 12-22-2004 11:06 AM

Its already shaping up to be what I expected. More people in the 25+ crowd since the 4Runner is a pretty pricey truck, but also some in the younger crowd because of its sportier image.

I'm 24 BTW.

olliebear 12-22-2004 12:38 PM

Ee gads.

Compared to you whipper snappers I am older than dust.

Old enough to have watched the Ed Sullivan Show. (Do a search on Google if you are too young to even remember Ed Sullivan)

Old enough to have watched Red Skelton and Gunsmoke on Sunday Nights. There were only 3 national stations at that time. No CNN, no Showtime, no HBO. The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour before Glen Campbell was a bloated alcoholic wreck.

Old enough to remember staying up till 12:00 am to watch the TV go off the air and the indian head test pattern.

Old enough to buy tires with white sidewalls and having to scrub them clean and use sidewall paint to touch them up.

Old enough to remember when the Firestone 500 was state of the art tire and "put a tiger in your tank" was about filling up on gas.

Old enough to remember gas at 25 cents a gallon.

Old enough to have watched Michael Jackson's groundbreaking Thriller video when it first came out. And I was about to graduate from college by that time.

Old enough to remember Mamas and Papas and before Keith Richards looked like death warmed over.

Old enough to have worn Angel's Flight butt hugger pants and polyester shirts in high school back when it was first cool and not just retro cool.

Old enough to watch Neil Armstrong step foot on the moon.

Old enough to remember the word "gay" referred to being happy.

Old enough to gripe about lower back pain, fallen arches, and holding my dinner menu at arms length to read it. but only if the lighting was good enough. Those dark, romantic restaurants are killing me.

Old enough to appreciate Denny's Early Bird Specials.

Old enough to need those "comfort" cut jeans...Oh those days when I could buy 28x30 Levis 501 BEFORE they shrank and easily get in them AFTER shrinking.

Old enough to REMEMBER that I used to be able to unhook the girl's bra with one hand without fumbling...in the dark, without her helping....now I have to remember what to do if I could ever do that again.....and at this age, my gal would have learned about the effects of gravity.

44 by the end of the December.

Hitman 12-22-2004 01:01 PM

Seems that the average age is somewhere in the 30's so far...

Looks like a pretty even split between the 35 and older crowd vs the 34 and under crowd....

itsmemaaaark 12-22-2004 01:38 PM

am i the only 16 year old here? lol COOL

olliebear 12-22-2004 01:50 PM

Ok, you old fart

There wa no WWF Raw. Just John Tolos and Freddie Blassie and his pencil neck geek comments. And it took place at The Olympic Stadium in Los Angeles.

Back when x rated meant having to go to the *****cat Theater in a trenchcoat and not from the internet.

When Muhammed Ali could still talk and the Thrilla in Manila with Joe Frazier. And Howard Cosell wore those loud sportcoats that looked like it came off a couch at Goodwill. And the brutal pounding from George Foreman but was beat by Ali's Rope a Dope tactics hiding behind his upheld arms from Foreman's massive fists.

And Rich Little would do his impressions on the Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour. And Carol Burnette would tug her ear at the end of her show.

Uniroyal Tiger Paws where the ads showed the tire tread with a tiger paw gripping at the road.

When the first Boeing 747 rolled on the tarmac. Wow was that BIG. And people actually dressed up to fly cuz it was special instead of showing up in sweats and being herded like cattle. When flight attendants were called an airline stewardess and they had a rep for being "swingers". Yes, they were called a stewardess and they wore those nappy military style uniforms and it was supposed to be so glamorous instead og Southwest Airline shorts, sneakers and yelling at passengers to shove tha bag in the overhead and sit down and shut up.

Speaking of swingers, there were even "Swingers Apartments".

Stereos were hidden behind these ugly fake furniture things instead of being out in the open.

and remember push button transmissions? You pushed the PRNDL buttons for the gear you wanted.

olliebear 12-22-2004 02:15 PM

That reminds me....

Rowan and Martin's Laugh-in..the Fickle Finger of Fate...a very yound Goldie Hawn popping out of the boxes near the end. Artie Johnson playing the Nazi..."Velly interesting"....Gary Owens....and of course, Say Goodnight, Dick, Goodnight Dick.

Green shag carpets...now that would make your head hurt. Clear plastic furniture slip covers that "fart" when you sit down on a warm day....

retirement vilages such as Rossmore Seizure World, I mean Leisure World.

Tacky water ballets before Bellagio made it cool with Celine Dion singing...

speaking of Vegas.....back in the original strip. The Stardust. The Dunes, Desert Inn, Silver Slipper, the Flamingo, The Frontier with the neon Cowboy statue, the Nugget, $1.99 steak and eggs breakfasts. the Mob in Vegas--"take your winnings and don't come back again." None of these mega hotels, no volcano shows, no pirate shows, no Siegfried and Roy. It was Sammy, Frank, and Dino. People dressed up for the shows, and it was boobs and fur and feathers. (I was just too young for that back then) underground nuclear tests in the Nevada desert.

Speaking of Dino, how about the Dean Martin Show with his Golddiggers...and Joey Heatherton...now they're a 10 year old's wet dream...Dino and his ever present cigarette and shot glass full of "tea as it was revealed in articles after his death)

Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts...now those were hilarious. Don Rickles and Alan King were the best. Just blistering inside jokes.

Earl Scheib and he'll paint any car for $19.95.

Guess you youngings sure missed a lot...

olliebear 12-22-2004 03:00 PM

now that's sexy....

Mary Ann from Gilligan's Island was the girl you took home to meet Mom. Ginger was the one who made you a man.

Barbara Eden.....showing her navel back in those days...Watched it, her, every day.

'"Joey Heatherton", lordy, lordy, she was HOT, HOT, HOT, Serta Perfect sleeper adds with a flimsy silk nighty that showed EVERY HAIR and bulge not mattering where they were. Never figured out how they got away with those adds. They'd be questionalble now. Whew, I need a shower."

Nowadays, you'll need those little blue pills too....hahhahaha :D
And these youngsters think Paris Hilton is hot. She can't hold a candle to Joey H.

I wouldn't kick Joey H. out of bed for eating crackers...at my age, she is still fine fine fine.

Petticoat Junction....remember the girls popping out of that big rain barrel.

Gary Collins in Dark Shadows and those gothic babes....

Hee Haw and those flimsy tops and short short hot pants....

Now if you're really into 1960s women ....all those Russ Meyer Movies like Faster *****cat, Kill *****cat Kill.....and all those wretchedly bad movies with big bosomed women....Russ Meyer passed away a couple of months ago. What a director...what women...Now I really need a cold shower....

olliebear 12-22-2004 03:49 PM

two old geezers here.

Just reminiscing...back when I was in WWII....hahhhahaa

See what you youngin's can look forawrd to when you get to be our age????
