Zombie Truck 2.0 MPAV Build!

Its about time I make a thread to chronicle the most likely slow, but eventual build up of my recently acquired '04 4Runner! So a little backstory on the title of the thread and subsequently the nickname of the truck.

My previous vehicle was a 1993 Chevrolet S10 Blazer 4WD, long story short I ended up putting a self-made metal bumper and some other stuff. My good friends nick named it the "Zombie Truck" in case of a Zombie Apocalypse the vehicle could be used as a flotation device I guess?

BUT! I finally saved up enough of my paltry income to purchase a 2004 Toyota 4Runner Sport Edition V8 4WD! I plan on taking this thing mostly trail blazing and such, here's a picture of Zombie Truck 2.0 AKA MPAV:

First things first, I dropped a RS3200+ in it and a full set of WeatherTech mats. Next on the list is going to be the ShrockWorks Bumper. After that I haven't figured out which thing to go next. LoL One thing at a time eh?

And what the hell... Here's the other drain on my car building budget since it will become my excuse for dragging my feet:

Not that anyone really cares, but if you are also interested in watching the build up of the RX7:

PS- Internet Cookie if you guess what MPAV stands for.

An update on my progress, not too much yet. Thinking I may do some simple inexpensive mods later this week/month. Depending how much time I have... Enough babbling, here's what's on the up and up:

Just placed an order for a ShrockWorks Bumper; 3 Hoop, Black Powder Coat, White Crystal Driving Lights, and Black Clevis Shackles.

In the mean time I'm going to save up some money for a ToyTec Complete 3" Lift kit before the Bumper comes in.

Still no guesses as to what MPAV stands for? :P

I actually figured the last 3 words out when you first posted but wasn't sure about the M.

So not really much of an update... but I guess its something.

Last week I was recovering from being horribly ill and our family friend decided to park his little Miata a few inches behind me. Nicked it and took out the tailight and cracked and scuffed up the driver's bumper panel. Luckily all plastic damage, so ordered up a new panel, had our bodyshop paint it all for about $300 total.

I was going to do a write-up but its pretty self explanatory once you get the screws out. That and it was a pain to get good pictures.

So here's the damage, the repair looks like brand new, which reminds me that my truck is in sore need of being washed... :lmao:

Still waiting on my ShrockWorks bumper to come in, also saving up to get get a Radflo 3" lift, or maybe Icon Stage 2... haven't decided yet...

Well if its supposed to be a MPAV your gonna need reinforced body panels, bullet proof glass, run flats, gun mounts, and a flame thrower. :D

BlackWorksInc 05-03-2011 06:53 PM

Actually made a thread about setting up military style two part wheels. Waiting on research for steel glass tho advance some more. They make a kevlar composite fabric that when stretched taut provides protection against explosives and shrapnel. The flamethrower is still R&D. Gun mounts... Well no sunroof on my sport edition.

SkylineGTRracer 05-03-2011 07:07 PM

Could always break out the sawzall. :biggrin2: mount a .50 and noone would be the wiser. They use that on the presidents motorcade. It's usually in some yukon or tahoe.

magert54 05-12-2011 08:42 PM

No no no, your going about this all wrong. The 4runner was designed with the crew served weapon in mind. The MPAV is all ready and set up for use of the XM214 mini gun or even a .50 Cal. The location toyota considered was the sunroof as it has great coverage but is limited to the room a person has to move with in the cab (stepping on the drivers head and all :) ). They decided to modify the rear cargo area for such uses. Now think, a nice open area to sit, cargo compartments that can be fitted for incoming ammo and ammo dispersal. Lets not for get the greatest R&D idea Toyota had, it was the auto open rear window (awesome music plays when its being rolled down and a muzzle appears only 10 feet from oncoming zombies). Shrockworks provides the front protection and possible flamethrower mounts to replace the fog lights. Just my 2cents.

BlackWorksInc 05-12-2011 09:23 PM

Heh, That's a good idea for the rear facing gun mount, forgot about the usefulness of that rear window!

Just got an email from Mark at Shrockworks, said they should ship it out around the end of June! YAY! Now I just need to save my money and get either the Radflo or ICON 3" lift.

magert54 05-13-2011 05:26 AM

saving for that ICON lift for mine. The stage 3 to be exact, saving every penny i can :). So many good things i hear, if your willing to spend the money its worth it.

too bad you didn't have a trailer ball to save you

BlackWorksInc 05-18-2011 02:45 PM

It would not hasn't helped as the corner of the truck nicked the Miata, just that black section hit it.
Means I needed a CBI bumper! :)
