Finally Did the Daystar 2.5/1.5
 

Thanks to all here at T4R.ORG for the input on lifts, tires, and maintenance. Swapped out my Limited rims for the much better looking Sport Edition's and got some new shoes. I absolutely love the way this lift looks!
Here's a quick little drive I took to Devil's Slide in northern Utah today.

Looks very nice!! Gives it a solid look thats not too extreme but definitely noticeable. Now comes the questions....

Did you do it yourself? If so how long, if not how much? How is the new ride quality? Did MPG change at all? Do you have before/after measurements? Do the tires rub at all? Any plastic trimming needed?

I did it myself with help from a buddy. Took us about 6 hours which includes lunch and a quick trip to Auto Zone for some more tools (didn't have a breaker bar). So just plan on a whole day as insurance against the unknown. Do a search on here and you will find other member's who have some really great instructions. Because of the XREAS system I found dropping the LCA's was the only way to go. I didn't touch the UCA's. One thing I found missing from other's instructions was removing the anti-roll bar (I think that's what its called). It runs accros the front of the cross member and has two brackets with two bolts each. Removing this made everything easier.
Ride quality did not suffer at all. I was hoping to have a slightly stiffer ride afterwards and got exactly that. It's not much, but I like it. The Limited was a little soft in my opinion, but now just right. I have a little more body movement, but, hey, it's a lift.
MPG went down a bit, but I also went up in tire size. I had 245/65/17's before and went to 265/70/17's after. I didn't check my MPG on yesterday's trip, but with mixed driving I got 200 miles out of half a tank.
I didn't take measurements simply because so many other members here have done the exact same lift with the same tire size and I wasn't that interested in those details. J.A. has very exact specs on top4runners.com.
I have no rubbing, but I haven't gone to full compression on the suspension offroad. I only do mild offroading, though, so I am not worried there. Since I have an 04 and my fenders don't stick out as much as the 06-09 models, I decided not to install wheel adapters (spacers). My tires are almost even with the fenders now. Plus my favorite tire shop will not work on cars or trucks with wheel spacers. Liability issues appearantly. If you go with SpiderTrax or other wheel spacers you will probably have some rubbing.

thanks for the info. have you noticed any difference with your speedometer with the bigger tires?

I haven't done an exact speedo check, but I figure at 65mph I'm probably at about 63-64mph. I only went up in stock size a bit, so the variance shouldn't be much. Another member might have exact mph figures on the 265/70/17 tires.

Anyone know of a calculation for figuring this out?

I just calculated a % increase to apply. I went from the stock 265/65R17's to the 265/70R17's. You can check the specific tire diameter, or use this tire size calculator to find the rollout distance on both. Then just look at the % difference in revs/mile.

For example, I went from 660 revolutions/mile to 638 revolutions/mile.

22 / 660 = 3.33%

So when my speedo says 60, I'm actually going 62. I make the same adjustment when using the trip odometer to calculate my actual mpg after a fill-up.

Looks great. I went w/ the FJ/Bilstein combo and love it...But I must admit yours looks better w/ just a touch more lift! In fact, I may try to find a 1/2" rear spacer for my rig to give the raked look that I miss so much.
