Texas 4Runner Meet and Greet Class Selection
This thread is for people who plan to attend the June 2011 4Runner meet and greet in DFW Texas. Below are the classes that I can teach. These classes will take roughly 1-1.5 hours each. Of course these classes will be free and materials will be provided by Central Overland. We will have time for one... maybe two if you guys really want...
1) Beginner's 4wd. Mostly stationary and cover the basic workings of the truck as well as how to gain mechanical advantage and traction increases without major modification. 2) Intermediate 4wd. Includes some trail time. This class can be stacked onto the beginner class and will cover spotting techniques, safety procedures, obstacle negotiation and driving techniques. I will limit the scope of this class for time constraints, so it will not be a full offering. 3) Recovery. Covers winching, extrication techniques, kinetic rope use, HiLift winching, and demonstrations in whatever other nasty spots we can find. Will not include trail time per se, but we will travel to the spots, park, and I will demonstrate some basic techniques. 4) Tread Lightly. Covers responsible 4 wheeling and environmental stewardship while on the trails. A must have for anyone serious about preserving our back country areas for recreation. 5) No class. Intermediate 4wd is usually part of a 1 day class when coupled with a orienteering class. This one hour class will be very dumbed down. Recovery is usually part of a 1 day class when coupled with a First Aid class. This one hour class will be very dumbed down. I only teach Advanced 4wd to graduates of both my beginner and intermediate classes. It is usually an all day or multi day class. Please pick one of the above choices for the poll, and indicate additional interest in a post below. |

I would like to do a combo of 1 and 2 since we will be actually out at the park. Might as well make use of it since we drove out there. I do hope this meet up does happen. This would be my first time out. I just got a 2001 4wd. Justin. Arlington.

fyi in the near future we will be offering a more comprehensive class schedule as part of the Central Overland Academy. This will include the above mentioned classes plus many others including first aid, communication, and logistics. We will post updates to our website when the schedule of class offerings is finalized. |
