you should post in wanted section under classifieds. but your best bet is ebay. the coolest one ive seen is out of a surf. its pretty bulky though and it hangs from the celling. ive seen other smaller ones that can fit into the dash with some modification of course.

Yeah get the FMU for cool factor...it's not bulky though, just the same size as the 99 maplight/sunglass compartment unit.

The bulk part of it is the install, I'd say.

The Field Monitor Unit is really the only way to go - just got mine done and it's one of my favorite mods.
You never know what you're missing till you have it - now I gotta have a temp sensor and compass in my vehicles!

FYI... I went with a hiking GPS unit in a RAM mount mounted on my driver side A pillar. It can do compass, altimeter, and much more.

I was going to suggest the same thing. I went with a garmin dakota. It does altimeter, barometer, compass, current speed, ect. Plus its touch screen, and I have all the trails loaded on it. and even topographical maps. I got the garmin mount kit and it has a suction cup mount and I just stick it next to my rear view mirror.

But that attracts thieves in parking lots... mine looks stock?

That's about the only argument I can give - I have a personal GPS too.

This guy - JDM NZ - out of New Zealand.

Good price and quick shipping - I think he comes across them occasionally and then posts them up for sale. Seems like just the sunroof model is available right now.

When I ordered mine I picked up two - one of each, as I have a sunroof and a friend does not.

The fit is great - just a small gap at the top right of mine, nothing I can't live with. Makes me wonder if I tweaked it while it sat around for so long waiting to be installed.

Thanks bro. Yeah I got sunroof too on mine and I am intrested in purchasing the roof compass/altimeter. I sent an email to that guy and lets see if he got one for me.
His email address is not showing on his web site. You got his email address?

That sounds like a really cool setup. If I were on the trails or camping as much as you I can see that being really useful.

But if all you are after is a stock looking compass/ altimeter/ outside temp..
Another vote for field monitor, I love mine!

One of the best features I like with the unit is the scrolling green bars as the truck moves forward and reverse...Can't beat that!

Henry didn't send you the temp sensor? He sent me the temp sensor with the FMU, I just had to run new wires to it. Maybe not every one he gets has the temp sensor with it.

The temp sensor is my favorite part of the FMU. The compass sometimes reads off and needs to be recalibrated, and the altimeter isn't very accurate, but it definitely gets high points on the cool factor and you can't get better integration.
