FYI - The pictures are still there. For some reason, IE is problematic when trying to view them, but Firefox shows them just fine.

Are you using IE8? I can see the pics fine, IE7 on Vista.

IE8. Just a red "X" on the corner where it says attached photos and will not open... I'm planning to have the dealer look into it on my next visit since I'm still under warranty, but was wondering if it's a simple job that I can do by myself... Thanks.

Yes, it's the cheapest mod i've ever had $1.00 for a pair of nylon spacers from Home Depot or Lowe's. Cut 1/4 of them (not in half). Then open your moonroof. You'll see a metal tubing along the rails. Insert 1 nylon spacer in the middle on both sides. It takes less than 5 mins to install and that includes the time to open and close your moonroof.

Try a different browser other than IE8. You're not alone, IE8 has been troublesome with pictures to other members as well.

Ok, I have had the same rattle for about two months now, just behind the front passenger and when I push up on the ceiling, or rather slam on it, it stops. I cannot open the pictures from the original thread either. Can someone show a picture of the nylon spacer, the size, and then where on the sun/moon roof you install it at? This is driving my bananas.

I added nylon washers/spacers and still have a rattle. Suggestions?

+1 right here. Same extremely disappointing result. Got all excited about getting rid of it and now.....now what? I'd sooner see myself end up in the loony bin from hearing it drive me nuts than give our dealership here 20 cents. Unfortunately they're about the worst I've ever dealt with. All they care to do is tell me that it'll cost $270 just to look and then I'm just as sure that they'll "find" that it needs the 1800 dollar repair. They've about made that clear up front. Even the service Mgr himself acted like he hadn't ever heard of it being a common problem. I love it when I'm treated like a blooming idiot!

OK I'm done with the rant...I needed that though...

Anyone have any other suggestions.......PLEASE!!!

I tried using a 3/16" inner diameter hose which I split down the middle and wrapped around the bar in the pictures so that it covers pretty much the entire length of the bar on the side where I hear the rattle (driver side), however the rattle is still there afterwards.

My next step might be to take down the headliner if I can find instructions for how to do it. From what I've figured out, it only happens for me when the sunroof is closed, if it's open or tilted up the problem goes away. Also the problem remains regardless if the shade is open or closed if the sunroof is closed.

By all means, share your results. I'm going to add a couple more washers too to see if it helps any...but frankly, since the first two didn't help, I'm left a little skeptical.

I don't know if I'd trust myself to actually pull the car apart like that, but I guess theres a first for everything.....

I hope it's not actually worn out rails, as the stealership suggests it may be....since that was the diagnosis on the last 3 they did. I still can't believe that they put such a crappy moon roof into a TOYOTA!! So crappy that it "wears out" in a year!! Just don't have 1800 bux to throw at it...... :-(

Hey Martini, Did you ever actually take that headliner down and look?

I noticed that when I push up on the right rear corner of the head line at the sun roof hard enough with my thumb, I can get it to stop. Also when I push up on about the same spot on the actual sun roof shade itself when its slid shut... Anyone have any idea what could be loose right there?

I haven't pulled it down yet. I have found that if I have my sunroof shade open and press up on the glass towards the driver side rear I can stop it from rattling over bumps. Trying to find time to pull it apart still.

I can make the noise stop by pressing on the metal end with the rivet in it at the front corner of the sunroof assembly in front of the plastic trim. Not sure how to access it and permanently fix it...
