Who did you guys call in CA to verify that you *cannot* buy ex-warranty from out of state dealer ?

Out there in the Sienna Forum, there were folks from CA who purchased it from Scott.

Curious minds want to know

So I decided to call Toyota Customer Service 1-800-228-8559 and asked them.

Quote " You can buy the extended warranty from any dealer that sells them and it is valid at any dealer in USA and Canada"

That fixes it. I'm calling scott

For the academics out there, I got my warranty when I purchased the truck for $1073 7yr/75K/$0

I will cancel this and get a new one.

I found a cheaper price with Shuan - as per earlier message in this thread (about 7 messages past the 1st one).

kalakar,

I was told by three different online warranty sellers and by a toyota dealership that we (people in CA) were not allowed to buy extended warranties online or from another state.

But if you can get a warranty at that price...I'd go for it...just make sure to cover all your bases. Ask other people, online search, etc.

good luck,

j

Wow! I've been away too long...a lot of stuff has been going on here...

Unless the others have lowered their price, Shaun has the killingest price - special for fellow T4R members! And it works fine - at least in Arizona (Shaun's dealership is in PA).

I dunno - e-mail him at [email protected]. (FYI - He also monitors this forum.)

Last post.

http://www.toyota-4runner.org/showth...5020#post95020

This is my post on another forum from May 05.

He asked that I told everyone to call 1-800-5-TOYOTA which is the main switchboard and then ask for Scott Moss, John Ward, Jenna or Betty. They are all aware of the extended warranty price and can help get your requests done as quickly as possible.

From the Sienna forum where I found him... no I don't own a minivan LOL.

You can call Shaun at 800-331-5056. As of the end of December, he was still offering it -- I bought the 7/75K zero deductible for $550. With only 21K miles at 3 years, I didn't see the need to get the 100K version.

I called him, had everything in hand the next morning.

Didn't ask about the price for a $100 deductible -- figured it wouldn't save much.

California and Extended Warranty

First of all, there are not any "warranty police" that will burst in to your house and take you away. You can call them up, and order this warranty via telephone. I did it with a Ford Explorer I owned. I called the dealership back East and gave them my Credit card number, miles, and VIN and received a "real Ford" Extra care warranty a couple of weeks later in the mail. Some of you are right, there is a law that says this, but it is like any other product you buy over the phone, not the Internet. Most dealers could care less about where you live and will be happy to have your extended warranty business. When you receive the warranty (if it's like the Ford one) it will state what dealer you purchased it from, but ANY TOYOTA DEALER MUST HONOR IT!!
Hope this helps!!

If I buy a new car now with the factory warranty, can I now buy the Extended Warranty that kicks if for 7 years AFTER the factory warranty expires? Or can one wait until near the date that the factory warranty and buy then? Understand that at that time in the future the price may go up. Just wondering how these things work.
