Hear Ye Hear Ye: Cheapest Toyota Platinum Warranty!
I POSTED THIS AS A ROUTINE REPLY ON A THREAD OVER ON GENERAL DISCUSSSION - BUT IT'S NEWS I THINK NEEDS TO GET AROUND!
Here's the hot skinny just off the press! A Toyota dealership in Richmond Virgina will sell us 4Runner owners a 7 year - 100,000 mile - $0 deductable Toyota Platinum bumber-to-bumber warranty for $876 + tax. This is a great deal, and is only $100 more than they are getting over on the Sienna club (a little more due to 4Runner's various sophisticated systems).
This is a better price, to my knowledge, than you can get ANY 3rd party "insurance" policy through!!!!
According to the Sienna website, several people have bought this from this dealership, have checked them out with Toyota, and they are 100% legit.
Call John Ward (who I talked to), or Scott Moss at 800-586-9682. They are in the Finance Dept.
I will be picking up this extended warranty soon, as my 03 only has 2,000 left until 36,000. Let's give John & Scott some business!!!

Do you have a link to what is included in this warranty? I may be interested. Also what is the link to the Sienna Club and that warranty as I also have a '05 Sienna? Thanks.

It is supposed to be a complete extention of the exisiting factory bumper-to-bumper warranty.
Here's the Sienna website where they discuss this in detail:

Too bad I live in the People's Republic of Kalifornia...we are not allowed to buy extended warranties online anymore...and probably can't buy one outside the state.
According to some of the dealers I've talked to, this law was passed to 'protect the consumer' from bogus extended warranties. That maybe true, but more like protect the dealer's profit margin as that's about the only place you can get one.
bummer.

Does that mean you can't also just call the out-of-state dealer instead?
BTW: CHECK OUT MY THREAD IN THE "GENERAL DISCUSSION" SECTION. Another dealer has beat the other price!

Copy of better deal from fellow 4Runner owner/dealer!
I talked to Shaun, and this appears to be 100% legit!
********************************************
HIS MESSAGE:
For what it's worth...
I haven't heard any other "options" mentioned with Toyota's program. For instance, they have a 6yr-75kmi bumper to bumper, 6/100, 7/75 & of course the 7/100. My question is, if you're going to get one, why pay more for something that you don't need; if you're putting on more miles, why pay for 'xtra' time? Get a 6/100 or a 6/75 or vice versa, you arent putting that many miles on, but you plan on keeping it for a while, do a 7/75 or a 7/100 and keep some money in your pocket.
I've been here for a year now, but haven't posted. (I do alot of reading... ) I also am the Business Manager at Palmiero Toyota. If anyone interested, I can do the following...($0 deductable for all of the following)
6yr/75kmi Bumper to Bumper... 450+tax
7yr/75kmi Bumper to Bumper... 480+tax
6yr/100kmi Bumper to Bumper... 700+tax
7yr/100kmi Bumper to Bumper... 825+tax
Just mention that you saw it here on this site and you got the deal.
Also, if you have any questions, feel free to call anytime or email.

FWIW...
There is no law saying that you HAVE to purchase your vehicle in the state you reside in... Right? You can have your vehicle fixed if something goes wrong with it while you're on vacation, right?...(This has happened to me before, BTW)
So, why can't you pick up a VSA in a different state... This isn't Russia, or Kalifornia for that matter. There's no law saying you can't. We do it here for previous customers all the time...
Just a thought.

Yep....yep! I have lived out here in the Repukit of Califunky for the past 6 years and hated to hear that news. I actually called a online extended warranty outfit about 3 mos ago only to be told what you mentioned above. I guess I'll have to shell out the Ben Franklins to the stealership before my mfgr's warranty is done.

So does that mean you can't purchase a Toyota factory warranty from a dealer in another state!? After all, it is a Toyota warranty! Geez!

Not sure...haven't had a chance to talk to a dealer yet. But I wouldn't be surprised if you couldn't.
They didn't even want you to purchase a car out of state, but if you did they charged you a hefty 'out of state vehicle' tax.
Hell, when I moved from Florida to here, they charge me $300 tax on my car just because it didn't have a 'california emission' sticker on it...on a car I had already owned for over a year!
Luckily that law was eliminated and I got my $300 back plus some interest. But still...it was a pain in the A$$.
Sometimes it is like that out here...a bunch of blind politicians and leaders trying to make an utopian society and make everyone happy...trying to protect everyone from everything. But what they fail to realize is that people are jerks and idiots...have been, are now, and will be in the future.
And you can satisfy some of the people some of the time, but not all the people all the time.
anywho...sorry for rambling...
