Skid Plate Rattle

I had started a thread a while ago about a metal sounding rattle in the front of my truck when going over sharp bumps...after checking all the bolts, sway bar and everything else under there I decided to take off the skid plate that covers where the oil filter is. Now it seems to be gone. I know I have checked that before and even taken it off and put it back on to make sure it was sitting right and was tight and it still caused the noise. So right now I am driving with it off and the noise is gone. Anyone else experience this? I dont know how the plate was causing the rattle because I know it was on there tight and wasnt realy budging. I will probably keep it off for a while..only really need it if I am going off-roading because I dont see any real danger of anything going up there otherwise.

Please pray that nothing flies up and rips the cv boot. Hard to believe that with your skid plate firmly secure, you were able to isolate the problem as being the skid plate itself. For it to make noise, it would have to come into contact with something.

Wierd. Best of Luck.

I have heard a metallic rattle, though believed it to be coming from the actual pad, rotor contact. It was intermittent and only occured over a rough patch of road.
