Question 2005 4Runner Vibration

I have a 2005 4Runner and tonight I noticed thast if I drive with one of the back windows down it feels like there is a helicopter hovering above the vehicle. If I put one of there other windows down, there is no problem. Has anyone else had a problem like this? I am thinking it is an aerodynamics issue.

You're right

It's the shape of the truck. But even my previous cars did it. I just ride with all the windows down. Or opposite corners. Not a real big issue, just an annoyance that can be avoided.

It really is hard to find a problem with the 4th generation 4runner.

Yeah, it is a problem with airflow. I have noticed it if I open the the rear door windows about half way. It goes away when I crack the sun roof open. I also noticed the same type of problem on a PT Cruiser I rented once. Sometimes it can be quite loud.

it happens on alot of cars. just have more than one window open. It lets the air flow through so it doesn't create that "helicopter" noise.

The worst vehicle that I've experienced with this problem is the Toyota Highlander.

While on a Highlander test drive a few years ago, I was asking the salesman if he had ever heard of the problem. He said the Highlander didn't do it. Then I rolled down just one rear window. the pressure actually caused pain in my ear. I kept the window down until the salesman begged me to put it back up
