Angry TSB sulfur fix W/ only 1 New CAT

Well I called my dealer about this problem with my truck and they gave me the bit about it being the gas. Told them I had a TSB, and immediately changed tunes. I had it serviced yesterday, and they only REPLACED ! CAT CONVERTER. It clearlt shows this on my receipt as well. The smell is not as bad , but still there with hard acceleration. I'm pisssed isn't it common sense that both cats have to be replaced with this problem. I was under the impression that it was the lining w/ the old cats that was the problem, DUMBAZZZZ'.

I'd complain that the TSB was not done properly. See if they will make good on the TSB and if not, complain to Toyota directly.

Talked to Toyota parts Dept. The guy said on the 2004 T4R V8 there are 3 Cats ( 2 "pre CATS coming off the engine and 1 Main CAT after exhaust merges into one pipe). He then transf. me to service and service guy said that only the main CAT was involved w/ the TSB for sulfur Dioxide on the V8 T4R. He said replacing the 2 pre CATS would not change anything. He did say that there were 2 CATs being replaced on the V6, if I understood him correctly. He went on to say that in this area customers had better results regarding smell by using Connoco Gas Mid-Grade 87. He was also surprised that I could still smell odor, saying they had good feedback from customers who had the TSB done. This Dealer I spoke was different than the one I had service TSB performed , by. I have to admit that I was a regular user of Connoco up until about 3 mos. ago, geuss I will try it again and see if this reduces the smeel altogether. Again, since the service the smell is better, but still there w/ flat out flooring accel.

Thats to be expected from other users in this board. When I had my TSB done (V6), they replaced 2 CATS. I still have the smell during hard acceleration, but it isn't nearly as bad as before the TSB.

Do any of you have the TSB Number or a link to it so I can be armed with it when I call for an appointment. I am only 360 miles from 36k. So time is critical. Any help would be great.

Thanks,
NCScott

The search function is a wonderful, learn it, love it: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/attach...=&postid=30258

Also the sulfur TSB is good for 96months or 80K.
