Mine went away. It used to be awful, at a light you would feel it buzz and etc. It really has gone away.

The description of sound is similar to what I hear. However, I only hear the hissing sound all the time whenever I push the brake pedal. The sounds is inside the cabin and not outside as Fireman77 describe. There isn't any sound if the pedal isn't fully release yet for instance release midway, 2/3 then immediately push back.
mine is exactly the way that pwanghk described it. but i just want to add to his quote and i'm sure his is the same. i noticed it the first week we got the truck. it sounds like a squeak when you first step on the brakes. doesn't matter if i'm stopping or if i'm parked, as long as the brake pedal is being pressed. it's soooo annoying, especially when the windows are up and the radio is off. what in the hell is it, a mouse? if someone finds something, please let us know.

Yup my mines a squish noise when putting the brake pedal down. It does this EVERY time I push it down. Very annoying. I'm due for my 10k service next week so I'll have them take a look at it:

Squishing brake pedal
Moving driver's seat
sulfur smell tsb
sun roof sticking

Mine does it too. I first noticed it a few months ago when I drove with the radio off for the first time. I brought it to the dealer and they told me it is normal . I actually believe them because my parents X5 makes the same hiss noise. That noise annoys me a lot!!

Glad someone found this thread. Mine does it too. I've been meaning to search on here to see if this had come up before.

My inspection is due in a couple months, so when I take it in for that, I guess I'll have them check out the hissing brake pedal as well as the rattling sunroof.

This is kinda strange. Toyota has an incredible reputation for service / quality. But it amazes me how many things come up that just don't seem to get addressed.

My '99 only had one annoying problem, and that was a creaking / squeeky clutch pedal. It would get to the point where it would sound like the entire thing had rusted, and was about to brake apart. That started at only 6 months of ownership, and never went away. Had it replaced several times, nothing they could do.

Now the new ones seem to have some seat issues, sunroof issues, brake pedal, etc. It sucks when you take it in to have the seat fixed, and they just tell you there's nothing they can do, and Toyota has no fix for it on the horizon.

I love my Runner, no question about it. I just wish Toyota would fix some of this stuff.

Has anyone found a resolution to this issue? I have an 07 that has brake pedal hissing (coming from inside the cabin at the pedal) whenever the brake is depressed. Had the dealer look at it on the 3000 mile service. Was told by the "service representative" that the mechanic found nothing wrong. I've dirven a couple of other 07's and they make the same noise but not as noticable. What is causing this noise? Can I replace any part to resolve this issue (I would gladly pay myself). Thanks.

I to had the dealer look at this within 500 miles I think. Bothered the heck out of me. I was told it was absolutely normal and nothing to worry about, and nothing to fix. It's documented so if something does happen it's on them.

Until I read this thread today I had forgotten that I had this issue. I have an 07 Sport 4wd, fyi. I guess I just got used to it, or it went away. I'll let you know tomorrow when I go to work in the morning. If it's still there remind me not to read this thread again, ever.

Not to bring a dead thread up, but yes, I just noticed mine doing this today also..not sure if did this before..but noticed a slight "hiss" when I step on the brake. I'm taking it in for some other issue (interior heating control light is out), but will have them take a look at it too and let you guys know.

Wow, too funny! The 2012 Limited also has the same hiss or air leak sound when depressing and pressing the brake pedal. Nice...
