list of problems... 2008 V8

I got tired of the noises that are adding up on my 2008 V8 4x4. Seems like I've got them all.

1- Front seat popping sound, found a possible fix that I'll perform tomorrow.
2- Slight clunk in the front driver side suspension, found out the sway bar bushings are shot, will replace with polyurethan.
3- Slight squeak in the steering wheel, seems like the friction between the airbag/horn/steering wheel is the problem, I will remove and apply dielectric grease on the contact
4- Drive belt sounds very sick (61k miles)
5- Last but not the least... I really searched to find a similar problem but with no luck:

Noise happens when I start the car in the morning and it is cold (worst when colder outside). When on P or N there is no problem, but as soon as I put it on R or D, with the brakes applied, there is a clac-clac-clac-clac sound coming from the engine compartment. When I release the brakes the noise is quieter but still there. I don't think it is the engine itself, if I rev it a bit it won't make it, only when on D or R. I've had that sound for 2 years now and it is about to drive me mad! Note that the noise disappears after 20-25 seconds.

Anyone ever noticed it?

The break noise... Is is possibly normal. Our breaks are hydra (or hydro) boost and there is an electric motor in the break system to create pressure.

I suspect the clicking sound you hear is a cracked exhaust manifold. As the manifold heats up, it closes the crack and the sound stops. I had the same sound and it got worse over time. I finally had the right manifold replaced and about 1 1/2 later the new manifold developed a crack. It's an expensive repair so I'm not replacing it again as Toyota has not redesigned the part. If you do a search on the subject, you'll find lots of posts.

1, 3 and 4 are done!! #2 I ordered the parts, always nice to check the items on the list of annoying issues.

The noise I can't figure out is not the brakes (I know what you are talking about) and not the manifold (replaced it last year) and it makes a different noise.

If I could describe the noise a little better, it sounds like a loose bearing on the crankshaft. I'm almost positice it is not it, as it's been there for 2 years... it would never last that long if it was it.

hey! i just bought a 06 t4r and recently have had the same problem with the seat, after only owning it for a month it was kind of disappointed with it. went to toyota about it, said they would fix it for $200. so i was wondering what the problem was and how you fixed it?

The problem was not what I thought. I ended up dismantling the seat and found where the noise was coming from. I took pictures while I was doing it, I'll try to post pics asap. My wife is turning 30 tomorrow so we'll have a party!
