Just changed my battery. Spent a full day chasing down fuses and wiring to find the rear window problems. Tried lowering and raising the window as suggested and every thing now works perfectly. Thanks

Add one more HUGE thank you to the pile. I recently installed an iPod adapter kit, and when the rear wiper / defrost / squirt functions stopped working, figured I forgot to re-attach one of the wiring harnesses I disconnected below the radio while removing it. Glad I did a quick search here first before ripping the dash apart a second time!

You gotaa be kidding me....

Thanks a million .......after a quick right turn of the key, my 05 4Runner's rear wiper/defroster works fine.
Almost too good to be true.

Love this site!

No rear window wiper or fluid dispensing.

Rear window goes up and down (tho not auto)
Rear hatch does the auto close thing when you get it close.

Any tips or suggestions?

Thanks!
I am in a similar boat as you. My only difference is the reset works until allowing you to use rear whipper, fluid and defrost, however they all stop when you try rolling the window down.

I was rear ended over the summer and they repaired my car, but ever since this problem happens every few months. The auto repair shop said they have a lifetime warranty on their work, but I am assuming they will somehow deny this is related.

Thanks!

This is the second time this happened to me. The first time it eventually resolved itself. As It's winter I am not in the habit of using the rear window so never realized it wasn't completely shut. One trip down and up did the trick! All is well and I still love my '05 T4R. 270,000 kms and counting!

I have a different issue with the rear defroster.

Rear window defrost: Works fine
Rear window wiper: works fine
Rear window up/down: works fine
Rear SIDE window defroster: DOES NOT WORK

When I turn the rear defroster on, the ice melt begins on the rear window, but the side windows don't show any sign of defrosting.

Thougts on this one? Thanks.

Only thought I even have is to make sure the defrost wire hasn't been compromised in any way. Even a tiny scratch across the wire will stop it from working at all.
