Just a question about the Dunlop AT20. The Max PSI is 51. Should you fill at the Max. All my tires are at 28 PSI. I would be worried if say 3 was at 44 and 1 was at 28, but all 4 was at 28. Is that correct or is that way too low. BTW the temp is 56 degrees F.

Open up the drivers door and their should be a sticker on the door or the door jam and it should say the correct tire pressure for all tires.

Never set them at 51 psi, that is way too much. Also, 28 psi seems way too high.

Check the sticker on the door/door jam and set them to the correct pressure.

BTW, most cars come from the factory with like 40-50 psi in the tires from the factory, it is suppose to help the vehicle during shipping. The dealer is suppose to check all the fluids and set the tires to the right pressure before they deliver the car to you.

Time to make a call to the salesman that handles the deal if they did not do that.

Even tire wear is only going to happen if you rotate the tires every 5,000 miles.

That evens out wear caused by misalignment (toe-in, camber, caster)...

Tires will wear unevenly if not properly inflated. If overinflated, the tire bulges and more wear in the middle of the tread occurs. If underinflated, the tire cups and excessive wear occurs at the outer and inner edges.

Bottom Line: Both proper inflation AND tire rotation are important.

I also was concerned with acceptable tire pressure. I checked my tires shortly after purchase (Dunlops) and found each tire right at 50lbs. I also noticed the Dunlop has a max pressure of 51lbs.
Personnaly, I prefer a firmer ride and find 32psi mushy. I also noted that the door sticker recomends 32psi...
I talked to several "tire experts" about running higher pressures in tires, specifically the Dunlop Grand Trek.
Seems that if you don't exceed the TIRE MANUFACTURER'S pressure and if the tire has a good footprint, i.e., no cupping or mid bulge, from your personal preferred psi, then anywhere between 32 and 51 psi is just fine. I run my Dunlops at 49psi for normal city and highway driving, as I prefer the firmer ride and more stable "feel" when cornering. If I was going up in the mountains or off road, I would probably back off to 32psi to avoid any possible bruising from rocks/holes.

Got first service last week on my 04 with Dunlops. Dealer put 35 psi in all tires.

I go by Toyota's recommendations.

max tire psi is tied to the max. load rating. 51psi is for a fully loaded truck.

Like others have said, if you are running 51psi with a normal load (meaning up to a few people) the center of your tires will wear faster, you will have less grip, less handling, slicker in rain and harsher ride.

Considering the contact area of a tire is smaller than a sheet of paper, over and underinflation are both bad ideas.
