I think my starters going...

Hey guys,
I have a 2005 v8 4wd. I got in this morning and upon starting there was a few rr rr rr's. I pulled through my apartment complex as I hit the first speed bump, I get a few beeps from my alarm. I hit the next speed bump and I hear it again. I look down my red alarm light was blinking, so I pushed it, the light went off and did not hear the beep when I hit the next speed bump. I was out running errands and every time I started it up I got the same rr rr rrr then it would turn over.

I haven't had a lot of experience but I assume my starters going. I read some posts about rebuilding them, buying a new one, or replacing the contacts. I also read about some starter relay and possibly a blown fuse.

what are you guys thinking?

You people know a lot more than my local dealer... so thanks for your help in advance.

Looper

If your battery is good and its dragging before starting then it probably is your starter. Thats what Im assuming you are describing.
There shouldn't be any reason to replace it altogether. It just needs the contacts rebuilt and it will be like new. I had mine done less than a year ago and its been doing fine.

I was hoping someone had the same situation. I figured start with the battery, alternator, then starter. I read all the threads on replacing the contacts and removal of the starter or keeping it in and replacing the contacts. I was prepared for it but dreading the time and aggravation.

So... This morning I went down to Auto Zone, checked the battery. Blown cell. New Battery. Fixed. Gotta love Auto Zone.

Now I have to read up on restoring my automatic windows and preset my radio. I wonder else what it changed. I heard "It will clear the driving habits in the computer". I'll have to check that out too.

Thanks for the replies.

At least thats all it was. Just reset the clock and radio and you will be set to go.
