click when starting to drive

Had the runner a couple weeks now and my ears are adjusting the different noises.. this one concerns me (dont know if it should):

Start the vehicle, throw it in drive, after 1 or 2 seconds get to 4-5 mph and I hear a single click coming from the steering wheel column / driver-side dash area.. this is a constant and happens every time. It almost sounds like it should be the odometer clicking over but that is digital (correct? ;) . It also happens if I go from Park to Reverse and stay in reverse for a couple seconds (and about that speed 4-5mph).

Any ideas? Bring it to the dealer?

2005 SR5 V8 - everything else seems perfect.. love the truck-

Thanks for any comments and/or advice!

It only clicks at 4-5 mph? Or does it keep clicking at higher speeds?

Might the door locks be set to automatically lock based on speed?

I know what your talking about. I notice it every time I back out of my parking spot. Usually is "clicks" as your refering to as I start to turn the wheel right while I'm backing out. I haven't checked to see if the noise is related to turning the steering wheel or a mechinism relate to going from park to reverse. It does it consistantly every time from the time I got it that I just asume it is okay.

It is defenately not the door locks. Imagine the noise of the wheel on "wheel of fortune" the click noise it makes is very similar to the noise I hear but imaging it clicking only once.

Is that the noise you are hearing when in reverse after being in park when you back up?

I imagine I'll look at it one of these days and figure it out but I really wouldn't worry about it.

If I stop hearing it I am going to think it broke....

That is it. Thanks for confirming, and agreeing that its not something to worry about. Let me know if you ever figure out what it is-
