Backup Camera Problem

I have a 2004 with a backup camera. The video from the camera started to intermittantly have a lot of static when I first started the vehicle and then it would clear up. Now there is no image from the camera at all. The display is on but it looks like there is no signal from the camera. About 2 years ago I did have an accident that required replacing the tailgate. I'm thinking that there is a loose connection somehwere. Can anyone tell me how the camera is wired? For example, is there a connection at the camera? If so, how do I get to it? What other connections should I check?

Mine just started doing this too. I haven't had an accident and plan to take it into the dealer. Any ideas before I do so?

I brought it in today. They said the camera is bad and are going to replace it. The vehicle is 4K over the warranty but they are going to warranty the part and I need to pay for labor to install it. - $78 vs ~$850. One interesting thing is that I asked how they diagnosed it to know that the camera itself is bad and it isn't a connection. Te desk person said the tech followed the TSB. If there is a TSB on it I wonder if that means they've had problems with them.

TSB?

A TSB on the back-up camera? Interesting. How is your working since the replacement?

I am bringing mine in tomorrow for a replacement. I talked to TMUSA who contacted my dealer and they agreed to pick up half the cost of the camera. My labor quote was much higher than $78!

My total out of pocket expense will be $512, not nearly as good as you did. Perhaps because my 04 has 50K in miles.

I guess I should be glad that they are helping out with 1/2 camera cost.

I hope it doesn't happen again.
