Update on my A/C issue. Went to my friends shop and they vacuumed and refilled the freon to 1.32. The A/C instantly started working better than ever. So I believe it was just low on freon. Still have to monitor it for a while and make sure there is no leak. I may go back to do a leak test next week just in case.

LOST DONT KNOW WHERE TO GO 2005 4 runner problems

I have a 2005 Toyota 4 Runner that last August 2016 the Ac would diminish out of the dash to nothing after driving for awhile. I could still hear the blower working and if i shut my car off for about 30 minutes it would start working again blows ice cold when it works. I took it to a shop and they found the evaporator freezing up and replaced it with the expansion valve. Now im back in the same boat again. took it back to the shop and when the rpms went up the low side dropped to 5 and the high side was 200 at idle low side was at 25 and high side was at 225 at idle. they evac and recharged the system and it was full no freon lose. they said that the high side line off the compressor was at 150 degrees to the condenser and out of the condenser was only 98 degrees and pressures still did the same thing and after driving for at least 45 minutes to an hour ac would slowly weaken out of the dash. They said i needed to replace the a/c condenser so they did. Now pressures are perfect at rpm with low at 25 and high at 250. I took the vehicle on a road trip to mexico and 1 hour into driving the ac diminished but you could still hear the blower working but no flow. pulled over shut it off waited 30 minutes started it up and worked fine. Now i have a thermometer in my vent and it blows cold as heck down to 36 degrees on the freeway before it goes away. I dont know what else it could be nor does the shop its at again. any idea because its come down to me driving for 30 minutes turning ac off for 3 minutes and back on for 30 minutes so i can keep it cool with out pulling over for a half an hour or more. Im lost any suggestions would help

2005 Air Conditioner Won't Turn On

Me: 2005 4Runner 6 cyl SR5, 140K miles

Background: Every few weeks the AC won't cut on at all. Nothing. No air, no noise, nothing. After a day or so it runs great for a few more weeks then seems to do same thing.

What I've Done: Replaced the relay with a new one. Did AC Recharge flushing old and filling with new. Had them check for leaks. None to be found.

Electrical? Compressor going out?

Again it works great except it goes dead for a day or so every few weeks.

Appreciate any help.

I aactually have this exact issue. About 30-45 mins of driving and it just goes away. The air slowly stops coming out of the vents even though the speed of the blower fan doesnt change(as heard). The air then goes warm as well. Did you happen to figure it out? Or does anyone have any info on the issue?

Help! I need somebody, help!!

2009 v6 4x4 auto SR5

My wife recently got a nice surprise on the first 80+ degree day while on a 4 hour trip with 2 kids under 4, the AC was out, blowing hot air.

I tried to add some freon, but it would not take any. I stopped by a shop and they were kind enough to do some diagnostics. Pressure was fine and we could make the clutch/condenser work by jumping the relay, but the relay is in good working condition which I confirmed by switching it out for the same one from my tundra. I am told there could be some kind of problem with the signal from inside the cab to the relay, something about a ground? I am not the most fluent with wiring, I did take some panels off and inspected the wiring from the heater/ac controls out through the firewall and nothing appears out of place? They were fairly busy and booked so I made an appointment for a week from now. Good shop, I trust them, but I am hopeful I can figure out the problem and fix it before having to cough up their hourly rate.

any help or suggestions are appreciated, I am new to AC issues.

2003 4Runner SR5, 4.7L V8 4x4, 221k miles.

Mine is having the same issue. I'd previously recharged it every couple years (2015, 2017) and had no problems otherwise, it was always freezing cold.

I started out having only AC on the passenger side, then it slowly faded out to warm/hot from every vent. I recharged it, the cold air lasted 2-3 weeks, recharged with SuperSeal/refrigerant, literally lasted an hour or so of driving and it was back to blowing hot again.

I've never paid attention to the light on the console cluster to see if it flashes or not, but I'm going to check the fuse/relay today since that would be the easiest and cheapest fix... although with the way it went down, I'm sure it's going to be the most expensive problem I could possibly have. I just rebuilt the front end this year too.
