2004 V8 issues: Going into limp mode, ODB Code P2714, Stalling When Idle
I took an 1800 mile roadtrip over the last week, and had some issues come up that from the searching I have done, seem like they might be related, but I also have no real idea what I'm talking about.
First issue: After some moderately hard braking that lead to a kind of rough, jerky stop, my 4Runner went into limp mode. I checked the error codes, and get "Pending Fault: P2714". If I turn the truck off and back on, error code is gone, and limp mode is gone. I can reproduce this with stopping too abruptly.
I drove for about a week after that happened, making sure not to do anything but the most gentle, grandma-esque braking.
Then, yesterday, after driving for about 4 hours, I stopped, and when I started again, the starter sounded like it wasn't getting quite enough power, but the truck started, and I drove again for another 2. Try starting it again, and it doesn't quite turn over the first time. Second time it does, but when I start to slowly reverse, it stalls.
I was worried about the battery, so I unplugged the three devices I had plugged in. It started just fine about 10 minutes later. I drove to O'Reily, had them test the battery, starter, and alternator and they seemed fine.
Plugged devices back in, and it still seemed fine. Drove it today, again, seemed fine. Couple hours ago, I drove it again, and it stalled while idling at a stop light. Unplugged devices, can't get it to stall again.
Can't get it looked at until Tuesday, but I'd like to go in with as much info as I can to help them diagnose, so any suggestions of more things to check, or specific issues that this all points to? Also, I'm definitely worried about potential damage by driving it like this. I think I can minimize driving between now and then, but any thoughts related to that would be appreciated too.
