2003 4Runner SR5 V6 - Auto-door lock, not working for a year, now magically working!

Hello All,

It's been a while since I have visited, and that is because I have been thoroughly enjoying my 4Runner.

Just some quick background / history, in case it may help to trouble-shoot and aid in the advice and suggestions, hopefully to be provided -

I am the second owner of this vehicle, which I purchased from an elderly couple in late 2015 with just under 12K miles on the odometer. The vehicle has been in eastern PA its entire life, and it spent the first part of its life relegated to outdoor parking. It now has about 65K miles on the clock.

So, about a year or so ago, maybe a little longer, the driver's door door-lock stopped working 'automatically', and soon thereafter the same thing happened to the right-side passenger door.

With lot's of other things to spend $'s on, I decided to live with the slight inconvenience of having to manually lock and un-lock these doors.

Then, last week the auto-lock on the passenger door started to work again - Just like that!

Instead of waiting around for the driver's door to magically fix itself, what could possibly have caused the lock on the other door to start working 'automatically' again?

Sure, I know that there are a variety of things, both mechanical and electrical in nature that may be the root-cause of such a failure, but is there something simple, an "Ah ha!" part of the 'system' that I should check and possibly get lucky (since about everyone loves to 'get lucky' every now and then!)?

A fuse, a loose wire or connection somewhere, etc.

Thank you in advance!

Best Regards,

Rob

Most likey the actuator is bad, slamming the door sometimes can cause them the free up I know this works sometimes with windows a trick is to hold the window switch and slam the door at the same time sometimes it can temporarily fix the problem
