Firestone Repair-Cover Up?

So I went and replaced my spark plugs this weekend. And come to my amazement, cylinder 1 has been retapped with a spark plug thread repair kit.

From the records i show, I see on 4/11/2019, that the spark plugs were replaced by Firestone. they used E3 spark plugs total crap

Waiting on PO to see if it was like that before hand, but my gut tells me it was fine before firestone got it.

Heck firestone replaced the brake cylinders on the rear and they are leaking again based on the receipt. they replaced that stuff with Vatozone equipment.

How do you kindly go about asking them to give you a new head....lol luckily it only happened on cylinder 1. they learned theeir lesson on the rest.

I got the denso in, and was able to carefully pull that thread insert off the old plug. But to me its a ticking time bomb till it blows the plug, maybe.

need advice.

Is that one of those corporate quick-lube type places? Asking because we don’t have Firestone service places around here.

I bet they were trying to hurry up and turn over jobs quickly so they didn’t wait for the engine to cool down. I admit I’ve done that once and cross-threaded the plug in the process. That’s how I learned how to use a Hell-Coil!

Still dishonest if they didn’t even tell you at the time.

its a pretty big chain here in the texas area. there are some really good firestones....and then bad ones.

My dilema is the fact that this was done under the PO name, when he had it. I got all my stuff going, and i think it will be okay for a good awhile.

But I am also one for holding others accountable for their own actions....I have had warranty issues with other sports cars I have had, and its matter of getting them to admit their wrong doing.

But since this is on repair work, I am not really sure what the reimbursement would entail. i sure as hell would not let them work on it again after the fact.
