Rust and leaking on 5th limited

Went to local shop to change engine oil and looked up body frame when they lifted up.
Noticed leaking from transfer case and Rust is going on body frame...
I wash my car once a month regularly and do additional wash especially under body day after driven salt snow.

Y'all also having any issues what I have?

You’re not alone!

You are not alone and many other people have this issue, although I can’t say that I have. I have a 2015 custom built SR5 but my frame and transfer case are stock. I have taken my baby through hell and back, through water puddles, thick mud, thin mud, sand, and even up mountains and I have not seen any rust or leaks.

I do know, and have heard that the area you live in can effect this. I don’t remember the states but I believe it’s more coastal cities that people experience this problem due to the salt from the ocean in the atmosphere. Washing your car is a good way to get all that salt off but sometimes it may not be enough. I could be wrong about this but I have read a threat about frames rusting and a lot of people who live near oceans had that issue. Hope that helps!

What year 4Runner do you have? I'd say that looks fairly par for the course for a 4ish year old vehicle in Michigan from what I saw when I was younger.
