Car won’t start after new alternator installed

Hi everyone.. I’m looking for anyone that might know what happened to my car and hopefully a fix.

2013 4runner limited

So I changed the alternator in my car, hooked everything back up and the car doesn’t start. I have some power to the car (dash lights) but the door locks don’t work, key fob button only works on the unlock button. I don’t have a multimeter to test the alternator.. so I only tried to jump the battery (battery is brand new); which didn’t work. Im thinking bad alternator??

Any tips or advice would really help! Thanks

When you installed your alternator you did un plug the battery. if not then one of the'starter wires shorted. check'the fuses. Also make sure'the battery connections are clean and tight.

Thanks for the quick response... So I checked the alternator fuse and sure enough, its blown. Not sure how that happened as I disconnected the battery prior to working on the alternator. The fuse feels pretty stuck in there.. does the fuse just pop out or do I have to take out the entire box?

Thanks again!
