Wet drivers side floor board

Hey guys,

I have had my 4Runner since last June, it’s a 2017 trd pro, over the last few months i have noticed a faint musty smell. After pulling all the floor mats i noticed the drivers side floor is wet. I removed the seats and completely pulled the carpet and dried everything. I looked all over, up under the dash, under the truck, in the door jambs, and even had someone stand outside with a pressure washer spraying all over to see if there are any obvious leaks. I could not find anything at all. The leak has to be coming from underneath the carpet since the top of the rubber floor mat is always dry.

Is there a common place there could be a leak? The smell is driving me crazy haha. Oh, and before anyone asks, no the truck does not have a sunroof, so no sunroof drains to be clogged. Any help would be much appreciated, thank you in advance!

It might be related to the sunroof. I had the same thing where the floor carpet was wet but the rhino liners werent and realized one day it was snowing that the sunroof was leaking. It would only happen if I was parked downhill though

I appreciate the response….but the truck doesn’t have a sunroof.

I think i may have figured it out though. The previous owner installed an after market roof rack and it looks like the bolts they used to replace the factory ones are extra long. When i pulled back the headliner they were wet.

ah thats funny. Same idea though because in these 4runners there must be a channel from the roof down to where the floor carpet is so if water gets up there in any capacity it will do that. You should be good to go if you seal that up with some marine sealant or something! good luck
