2001 4run, check eng light, code P1135 ????

About a week ago, my check engine light and the VSC lights (both) came on. And they've stayed on.

I've opened and closed the gas cap. I've disconnected the battery and then re-attached it.

Lights are still on. MY 2001 SR5 4runner runs (seemingly) just fine.

I stopped at an Advance Auto parts, and borrowed theire OBDII scanner tool. Here is what it came up with, for a code.

P1135
Manfacurer Contrl.
Fuel Air Metering

What do you think this means? I'd like to do my own repairs, and this is my first problem with a check engine light on a newer vehicle. I'm used to working on muscle cars and race cars.

Thanks,

Another forum states that this means that the oxygen sensor before the cat converter needs replaced (driver's side???).

Does this seem right?

If so, who has the best / cheapest ones out there?

Will the code reset after the fix?

Boy does this board seem useless!

No one could help me out.

Don't worry, I figured it out with the help from a better board, and it's not even a Toyota board.

2001 4runner P1135 code

Hi,

Can please anyone help me with this problem. Yesterday the lights came on both vsc and check engine light. I was told that it's an O2 sensor and the forum says air/fuel meter sensor. I'm confused and I want to make sure I solve the correct issue. Thanks very much for your time.

Its the bank 1 sensor 1 air/fuel sensor. Replace it. An air/fuel sensor is a newer design of an o2 sensor.

Just a note that you can get this sensor (save $) on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_no...Oxygen+Sensor+
It is really an easy fix to with two bolts and a wire connector only and the check engine light will go off along with the vsc indicator.
