Ended up getting my lights to go away! Replaced both front hub assemblies and the ABS harness and now they are all off!!! Hoping it stays this way for a long time

this just happened to me and will try to use the instruction here.

update: I ended up clearing the code using my reader and it cleared the check engine light and the 2 vsc lights off. never came back afterwards. one thing I noticed is that it happened after one heavy rain happned. so far so good.

To further assist with your writeup, I have attached the TSB, BR005-03, you mentioned in your script. A schematic of the DLC3 unit indicating the required pins TS and CG with the re-calibration instruction is shown on page 7 of the attached TSB.

Good Luck.
In my case this worked like a charm. My lights came on after my serpentine belt broke. Thank you.

Thanks for starting this thread

The best instructions I found on the web, Google search for "TSB BR001-04"

Glad I found this thread, as every time I was connecting my 04 4Runner to Techstream and doing edits it was screwing my zero point calibration. At least I know now it's because I'm using a CAN bus adapter and not ISO.

The fix I do now is to simply run the VSC/ABS "test" utility in Techstream and it resets the zero point calibration. I'd love to know if there's a cable I can use with Techstream that won't trigger this in the first place. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Forum rocks!

So, twice now my mechanic, has tried to convince me otherwise of the cause of the vsc lights. This time he checked with his snap-on scan tool and got a B1S1 code as the maint light came on with the VSC lights after he performed a intermediate steering shaft replacement and an alignment. He reset the B1S1 code but the VSC's stayed lit. I decided to not trust him in this matter anymore, long story short, took a piece of household thermostat wire (solid core, small gauge) and performed the sequence. Worked like a charm. No more VSC lights! Thanks for the info and guidance.

Well I had this very issue after purchasing a new OB2 reader and trying it out on my 2003 4Runner Limited V8 over the weekend. Funny enough I have another code reader that does not trigger this fault code on my 2003... very odd as I used that old reader 10 or so times to clear codes and never had this VSC TRAC and VSC OFF light issue.

Needless to say, I followed the Paper Clip method of sticking the clip into socket TS and then just touching it to CG, no need to physically stick the clip into the socket all the way to get this TSB to work.

Thanks for the great write up! I was able to do this on my own in 5 minutes before a meeting!

Hello, first post here - hopefully someone can help on this matter. Recently purchased 2003 Sport and it's showing no lights when the ignition switch is on. I also have no lights when I start the engine. However, once I put it in drive the VSC TRAC and TRAC OFF lights come on. No other lights are on. It runs and drives just fine but I want these lights gone because, obviously, the skid control isn't working.

I stopped at local auto store to run the OBDII code and it came back with the infamous C1336 - zero point calibration of YAW rate sensor undone. It's the only code it shows.

I ran through this TSB numerous times but after shorting Ts and CG 4 times (or more) in 8 seconds the VSC light is NOT lit. After turning the ignition switch back on the VSC warning light is not lit so I turn the ignition switch off. I still tried connected the TX and CG and turning the ignition on but the light is still off, it does NOT go through the 4 second on and .13 second blink.

The lights stay off until I put it in drive...any ideas?!?

Totally worked. Took 2 tries for some reason. Initially the vsc lights cam on when shifting into gear. After the first reset sequence, they came on after startup. After second reset sequence they stayed off.

Just used some short lengths of wire.

Thanks so
Much for the valuable information.

Do you have any instructions or threads for a 2005 4runner? I tried doing it but the ABS light would never come on to let me know it was going to calibrate. What changed for the procedure for the 2005 models?

The procedure is the same - it's the pinouts that are different.

03/04 models used the ISO communication protocol and pinout 14
05 and up use the CAN communication protocol, and pinout 12.

Which pins do I need to use then? Is there a different pin placement?
