Howling noise

howling noise
I've got a question about my 04 4runner...I live in Osan AB, Korea and you guys are really great source to get all the information for my 4 runner. there's a howling sort of WOO-WOO-WOO sound coming from the rear side (could be front) when I am driving at 30-50 mph but no noise in higher speed it started abouth two weeks ago. I've got new Michellin Cross terrain tire yesterday but I am still hearing the noise, I have about 72,000 miles on it and it is 4.0 V6.

Any ideas??
Thank you very much
Cliff

And you had the noise with the tires that you had before the Michellin Cross terrains?

I had Dunlop tires before and I thought tire was causing the noise that's why I replaced with Michellin Cross terrains but the noise is still there.

Thank you.

Well first you need to isolate whether it's the front or the rear, before we can really give you our opinions on what it could be.

That is a common sound when a differential goes bad.

First I would check the gear oil in there. The level in there should be about 1 cm below the fill hole.
