Post 2003 4Runner- VSC Trac/ Trac Off Lights Only

Hi Everyone,
I hope someone can help me... I have a 2003 4Runner, 46k miles, with the V6 engine. Most mornings when I start the truck, the 'VSC Trac' and 'Trac Off' lights come on. Both lights definitely seem to only come on when the truck is cold (has been sitting all night). I'll then shut the truck off and restart it and the lights will go off. I don't know if anyone has come across this and I will entertain all advice. Thanks in advance!

VSC LIGHTS

mine stay on all the time, the book says okay to drive but take it into the dealer. Who trusts the dealer? im going to take mine to someone with a code reader.

Thumbs up Let me know...

Glad I'm not the only one... Let me know if you can, if you find anything out by using the code reader...

I saw a couple suggestions here and there that it is the Zero Point Calibration.... not positive though...

Good luck with a generic code reader......you'll end up at the dealer. Only Toyota scan tools can get manufacture specific code information, and as far as I know that is the only equipment you can use to calibrate the system.

If you don't trust your dealer, why not find one that you can trust?

download the tsb by searching "zero point calibration" and follow the instructions near the end of the tsb. I just did it today and the lights went away.

My VSC lights are on also, took it to a toyota dealer and they pluged it in to a code reader and NOTHING, gave NO codes and said i needed to bring it in to dig alittle deeper. It does not dammage anything to drive w/out VSC, but it bothers me.

Like I posted earlier, before taking it to the dealer try doing the calibration yourself. If it doesnt work, then something may be wrong with the components itself.

Hello fellas,
I have the problem that originally coolvman83 posted where the lights come on ONLY WHEN THE VEHICLE IS COLD and GO OFF when you turn it off and back on and everything is fine. IT ONLY HAPPENS WHEN VEHICLE IS COLD.
I wouldn't think that would have something to do with the "Zero point calibration" but maybe a loose/malfunctioning sensor that starts working when the vehicle warms up.

Did anyone find a resolution on that? I don't think the "Zero point calibration" has anything to do with my problem(COLD start ONLY).

Thanks!

Hello, I'm new to the forums and I have the same exact problem as the post above and the OP. The lights only come on when I'm starting the vehicle in the morning after a very cold night. Here in LA, it's only a handful of times a year.

Has anyone had any luck? I've searched all over the internet and can't find anything.

! just had the identical experience with my truck this am. It was very cold this morning (-4 when i woke up!) but they went off when I got to work and turned the engine off then on again. I am not terribly concerned, but try to have as few lights lit on my dash as possible!!

Has anyone found a cause or solution to the cold start VSC issues?

Thanks for any help!

VSC Lights & Check Engine Light

Last night as I was driving, both the VSC Lights and the check engine light came on at the same time. Does anyone know how they are connected?
