Angry Tentioner ( Belt)

Just a heads up. My new one week old V6 4 Runner Limited just had a tentioner go out.Guess what? National back order. Wondering if anyone else had this problem. Why are they on back order? Must be a new problem..Had the truck for two days , now one week so far without it. Starting of real good. Lets see if Toyota helps. So far nothing.. Just my 2cents.:

Very sorry to hear about your problem. Yes it could be a big problem we don't know aobut. But I suspect it is, hopefully a fluke and since it is a brand new engine Toyota doesn't have a full inventory yet.

I know Honda and Acura's have been having transmission problems and it takes weeks to repair. If it is 2 or 3 days it is probably just inventory. Good luck on your repair.

wreck111:

don't worry about the fact that it's on NB.

I have a EVAP leak on a valve found by the intake plenum. They already know the problem but the valve is also on back order.

The problem is that these vehicles are new (1st model). therefore, parts will be limited as they're busy making the vehicles itself.

Parts will take awhile. My part just came in this morning (or is suppose to) so that'll put it at around 1-2 wks.

I have another part on order (bad switch on moonroof) but that one's suppose to take 4 wks or so... yikes! but it's not immediate so no biggie.

like what peter said, parts are limited cuz the 4runner is too new.

it'll all work itself out

Lance

Tentioner

No problem, other than it is not safe to drive with the tentioner screaming. It could break on the highway so we don't drive it much. The part is going to be at the dealer on Weds. they say. Also still have a rattle or bushing noise in the right rear can't fix this either. One thing I can say is that the customer service rep @ Toyota USA was great. Her follow up ws first class.

Tentioner

Well, Two days in the shop get the truck back and guess what? The next day when I started it up, the tentioner was making the same noise and two make matters worse I find out that there is a recall and a TSB on the seats that have been rattling. They might as well rebuild the complete truck.. One more time in on the tentioner and I file under MD lemon Law.....

Please tell me about this -- if necessary, let's start a new thread. I have a rattle in the rear right seat -- high pitched squeal and a knocking noise. It's got to be the right rear, because if I put the seat down, noise stops.

Thanks!

Tentioner

Took the truck back for the tentioner and rattle for the 3rd time Guess what the tentioner is still making noise only now for about 5 min's after it is started and the seat TSD was done (so they say) I don't believe it. The seats still make noise. I am getting real tired of this. Good thing I know how to handle lemon law cases, I have handled more than 30 in the business I was in. For such a nice truck it's a shame we have to go though this.....

squeak noise / tensioner

Wreck111

Did you ever get that tensioner issue fixed? I have the same problem in mine. Took it in they replaced the belts. It was good for two weeks no it's back again.

Let me know if they ever fixed it and what they did.

Good luck!

Tnetioner

As of right now I still have not had this fixed . It has become even louder at times. I seems to get loud first thing inthe morning on start up and when it is cold. I have filed a Lemon Law suit and still have not heard from Toyota. In Md. this is also a violation. I will take this to court if need be. I wife is starting to hate this truck. Also have a rattle in the left rear after 5 times in they still have not fixed it yet. Oh they did fix the sun roof rattle. I sold my ML320 for this??????
