stray voltage in my car?

hey ppl

a weird thing has been happening with my 07 4runner (only 6k). its un-molested, no toys or accessories added.

anyone who rides in it, gets a spark/shock when they leave my car (basically when they touch the door to close it). i am assuming its a stray voltage, bad ground somewhere or just static electricity.

should i worry? i want to call the stealership over it, but i think they will get just a good laugh out of it.

anyone..........

thanks

No worries. It's probably just static electricity built up from probably rubbing against the fabric. My SR5 is notorious for this! It even got to the point where you can see the spark arc when I stepped out of the vehicle as I reached for the door handle to close the door. Of course, I constantly shift in my seat. Try touching a metal part (like the door lock anchor on the B-pillar as you step out) to dissipate the charge before stepping out. No shock. Since the fabric on my Sport is slightly different, I don't get zapped as much if at all. You could also start wearing a tin foil hat.

Are you someplace very dry -- AZ? They sell a spray for use on carpets around computers that you might be able to use. Places like Office Depot have it - its called Anti-Static-Spray Years ago you often saw straps dragging the ground on cars --- and even feelers pointing up at toll plazas so guy collecting your quarter didn't get zapped. Ha, now its a couple bucks so maybe that curred the problem.
