New guy here. I just bought a 2008 sr5 and I cant seem to get the fog lamps to work. With the headlights on I turned the fog lamp switch on and nothing. Any Ideas?

They're wired to work ONLY when the headlights are on low beam. Any other selection will de-power the foglight circuit.

Check the relay in the box under the hood. Maybe the previous owner had a problem with the A/C dash light flashing and switched relays with the fogs to fix it and didn't replace the bad relay. Also check fuse.

Well I took the 4runner to the dealership today and both fog light bulbs were bad. I never thought to check them considering it is a brand new truck but oh well. Thanks for the help.

Of course, it's the most obvious answer! But it seems odd that both would be burned out. You might want to watch them carefully, though -- if they burn out again soon it may indicate another problem.

2004 Toyota 4Runner SR5 - Fog Light Short

Hello,

Was this ever figured out? I have a 2004 Toyota 4Runner that just failed inspection because the OEM fog lights are not working.

My brother-in-law said there is a short. I may not have this right, but he said both wires are live (?). Something like that. He said it should only be coming through one wire. He was going to hook up a toggle switch to bypass this.

He said he checked the fuse and relay. I'm reading there are fuses under the hood too. I am not sure if he checked all that so will have to find out.

Additionally, last year I took apart the trunk to replace the motor thing because the trunk wasn't closing. Please be easy on me, I am a woman trying to do things by following YouTube videos. But in any case, is there anything back in the trunk area that I could have knocked loose? I wouldn't think fog light wires run through that area, but thought I would ask.

Please let me know and if there is anything else I can check to fix this before doing a toggle switch. Thank you in advance.
