Hi,
I have a 98 ltd. 4 runner and my axle seal keeps leaking. so far it has gone 6 times!!!! I have had to replace the brakes effected twice. I have noticed that the time span has been getting shorter between leakages. since I am unfortunately not mechanically inclined, this has been an expensive, dangerous and stinky problem.
I have looked at schematics to know what other parts are involved. so far it is only the passenger rear wheel. the toyota dealership guys found a plugged rear diff. vent tube which they cleared and yet it went again the next day. needless to say I am at wits end. does any one have any suggestions or info. that on this?
I appreciate any help. i love my truck and just want this to be cleared up. Other wise the truck rocks!
It almost sounds as if the person replacing it screwing up (unlikely considering how many times) or the bearings are worn allowing the axle to move around a bit. I'd consider putting new rear wheel bearings on it.
