Unhappy Lots of lights = bad!

I've lurked on the forum for a while and unfortunately have to post here first....

So I was about 1 hr into my 5 hr drive to Pittsburgh when we decided to stop for dinner. I was pulling an empty 16' enclosed trailer behind my 08 SR5. I was backing into a parking space, went to pull forward to straighten out and had no drive gear. It was like I put the truck in neutral and hit the gas - except I was most certainly in drive. I popped it out of drive and back in - no more problems. I parked the truck and we went in to eat. We came out after dinner and upon starting the vehicle noticed the check engine light, airbag light and VSC/traction control lights were all on. The VSC light was flashing at me. I also noticed the climate control and fuel management features were not working (the clock was fine) and that I didn't have functioning turnsignals. My emergency flashers were working.

Anyone else had problems like this? I found lots of check engine/VSC light posts, but nothing quite like this. I'm taking the truck to the shop tomorrow, so I'll post the verdict later...

Cheers.

Just got back from the Toyota garage where they informed me that I had a blown fuse (IG1). They suggested that this could have been caused by faulty wiring on the trailer. I'm not sure it explains the issue with drive not engaging, but they said it was part of the same.

I bought a couple extra fuses in case it happens again...

Glad to hear it was a simple fix.

I think that fuse does explain things. It's at least partially responsible for the stop lights, VSC, reverse lights, turn signals, the park/neutral position sensor, and the trans gear selector lever.

I know this thread is over a year old but thought I'd add to it just in case it happens to someone else.

I had the exact same thing happen to me. I have an '06 SE 4.7 V8 and was towing a 3300 lb. popup camper. We were having troubles with the camper cable not connecting with the brake controller and had to stop several times to giggle the cable so the brake controller showed that it was connected. We put the camper away when we got home and parked the truck. All seemed fine.

Sure enough, the next morning when I put my truck in reverse it hesitated and then finally engaged and I thought "hmm, that's weird". Then, I had a Christmas tree of lights on my dash. CEL, Airbag, and traction control lights came on. No turn signals, no lights, etc. It's at the shop right now getting brakes and an alignment. It will be interesting to see how if they tell me it's something other than a fuse. At least now I know that it is in case they try to pull a fast one on me. Anyway, I hope this post helps someone else out.

Thanks!

I had the same problem as well. Mine blew at a stop light and faulty remote starter wiring was the culprit. This seems like a common problem!
