Unhappy 2003 V8 DAC & Reverse to Drive Problems!!!

ok I have 2 problems.

1.) I tried to test the downhill assist yesterday and it doesnt seem to work. I followed the directions from the manual & it coulndt keep my car from accelerating down the hill past 15 mph like the manual said it would and no I never pressed acceleration once and also had it in 4low even and braked occasionaly to test it.

2.) I have a wierd problem when I reverse from somewhere and then put it in drive to go up an incline, the engine makes 2 wierd beeps and then a engine grinding noise, I usually have to put it into 4th after that and then the car goes up an incline fine. This reverse to drive problem only occurs when I have to reverse out and go up inclines. BTW no lights light up, like the VSC or anything.

1: to use dac make sure you're in 4LO (turn knob) and then be in 1st gear. (only works in 1st gear). If you're in 4lo and 1st and it still doesn't work then take it to the dealer.

2: it would quite possibly be the vsc acting up but it's too quick that the lights don't have time to flicker.

the reverse to drive thing on a slope has happened to me once.....and i believe that it's because i let off the brakes then accelerated too early and the tranny did not get into gear yet and slipped. next time...try giving the tranny a couple seconds to get into drive then let off the brakes.

Well the DAC i did put into 4low and L for the gear, still nothing.

As for the reverse to drive problem up inclines, im worried my transmission is messed up and its a new car, just about to be 1 year old exacty. I dont run it hard and havnt done any off roading or anything for the transmission to be acting like this.

Are you sure the second item isn't the Hill Assist Control?

Well if it is, I didnt turn it on. No buttons pressed, no lights lighting up. When I reverse out of my driveway I sometimes drive up an incline, my friend lives up the next block and we live on a mountainous area in california, up the hills. So when I go from reverse to drive WITHOUT TOUCHING ANYTHING, it makes like 2 beeps and a grinding noise, and then I shift it to 4th gear and goes up fine from there.
Is that sound and action Hill Assist? When I try to use Hill Assist under the maual directions, it didnt work.
Or could it be, god forbid, my transmission having problems? GASP!

I dont care if my DAC or HAC doesnt work, I'll just get that fixed, but a bad transmission, even if fixed, SIGH, is not a good sign on a new car.

Use your warranty...Take it to the dealer.

if you were in 4lo and 1st gear you should be severely limited in getting any speed (unless you're pretty much vertical). I think redline for 4lo and 1st is something like 15mph (or something ? correct me if I'm wrong).

Take it to the dealer and have him take a look at it.

Good luck

The first time I had the hill assist come on, I would have sworn that my transmission was slipping.

Truth was I was not giving it enough gas. It only sounded like it was slipping or grinding due to the system tweaking the brakes.

You do not turn this system on. It is always there.

I would just try giving it a little more throttle.

So that button on the left side of the dash next to the instrument clusters does not turn on hill assist? The hill assist is just on all the time? strange... & also if you keep throttling the grinding sounds go away?

Nope -- Hill Assist is always on and no way to turn it off. The button on the left locks the center differential. It's all in the manual.
