Head Light Flicker

For about a month now when applying the brakes my headlights will flicker for just an instant. Anyone else experince this issue?

I've checked the battery connections and they seem fine. The battery is a 6 month old optima redtop. Additionally, the symptom only occurs if the car is running. If the car is off, the lights do not flicker when pumping the pedal.

Defective batteries happen. I'd have it load checked. I'd also confirm the grounds from the battery to the body and engine. Just loosen and resnug the bolts on the ground cables.

How long has it been since you've have the brake system flushed through? It sounds like the brake motor is cutting each time you apply the brakes as if it's bleeding a little to much pressure on initial brake application. Possible cause would be some air.

If it were me I'd have the batt checked and the brakes bled through then take it from there. Taking it 'from there' may be just electing to live with it.

Thanks for the ideas. You may be on to something - the brakes are due to be bleed and I did notice that the pedal has felt different sometimes the flicker has occured. I'll be having the 60,000 mile servie done in a couple of weeks.

Thanks
