"Flickering" Central Display (i know this needs to be moved)

Has anyone replaced the bulbs behind their central display (MPG info, etc...)? One of mine (left side) has been flickering for the past three weeks, and is now duller than the other side. I assume I will be replacing it (or needing to) soon. Link with pics?

The left half of mine flickers too. I have noticed that if I excersie the dimmer switch about 50 times, it gets better. I am not sure what is causing it.....but it is annoying.

Strikes me as odd that it would be so common on the left side especially when cold, seems like a design issue. For those who have changed the bulb, how long did the new bulb last and has the right side ever needed to be replaced?

For me, it's the RIGHT side that flickers, and only when it's very cold out. I'm not worried about it, it only takes 5 minutes to swap if it goes out. I've already had to replace a couple bulbs on the HVAC controls.

Post us some instructions and pics on the DIY for this. It bugs the heck out of me.

It does come and go on mine. I am waiting for it to get worse then I will have them replace it.

Mine flickered like crazy when the 4Runner was new. Now it just glows solidly and hasn't flickered in a long time.

I too have the same problem on my 03, the left side has been dim for about 4 years and now is hardly visable. Guess I'll change it out soon. Does the same bulb effect the cup holder lights and the toggle switches for ac etc? I also have what I call a short in the middle interior lights, some times they work, sometimes not. You can tap kinda hard and they sometimes will turn on. All three of these issues have been going on for probably 4 years. Anyone think that it is more likely an electrical issue or just bulb replacements etc?

No, it's not one bulb that provide all the backlighting for center stack. There are two bulbs for the climate/computer/clock LCD display backlight. There are three bulbs for each of the climate control knobs. IIRC, there are two more bulbs for each the defogger and recirculating mode buttons. The cupholders have their own light bulbs.

I know some of the bulbs are different sizes.
