MPG drop

Driving has remained the same but my 2007 SR5 went from 21-22 mpg to 14-15 mpg. I do very little 4-wheel drive engagement, just when it snows some and drive highway and in-town, back and forth to work. 30,000 mi. on vehicles. No changes in tires, just routine maintenance so far. Any ideas what would make it drop suddenly?

Mine dropped 3+ mpg after the dealer did the 'fuel injector power clean'. I'm getting between 14 and 15 with easy driving.
No fix yet. Removed the charcoal filter in the air path and unhooked the battery for an hour...

Hope you find the problem and tell me !

That 21-22 was hwy I'm assuming or is that just mixed city/hwy? And is the 15mpg the same driving? 14-17 is normal for 4Runners in the city V6 or V8 but it is weird to drop that much if the driving hasn't changed.

You are probably due for new spark plugs at 30,000 miles. I would do new plugs & air filter and run 1 bottle of techron through a tank of fuel and see what happens. BTW, my v6 gets 18-21 mpg except in winter when it idles more and winter gas blends drop it to 17-20.

Are you letting it warm up more in the cold weather burning more fuel at idle? I reset the mpg clock and once going mpg is normal. Warming up... I'm loosing all my fuel there.

I've noticed a similar thing with my 2007 sport. I've been tracking my MPG by hand since the fall and seen it go from 18mpg to about 16mpg. Same driving habits, I'm hoping it has to do with the colder weather lately and/or a slight change in the gas mix (I go the same gas station every time too to keep that variable constant). I do have new spark plugs too during all this since I'm at 40K now (changed at 30K).
